We are seeking a Medical Surgical Telemetry Nursing Assistant (Non-Certified), also referred to Telemetry Nursing Assistant (Tele NA), Medical-Surgical Nursing Assistant (Med-Surg NA) or Med-Surg Tele NA. A Med Surg Tele NA will assist nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. They play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery under the supervisor of other nurses. This position is on a per diem basis, PD/PRN, meaning as needed.
Responsibilities
** If you are a non-licensed Nursing Assistant (NA) and have no prior experience, we encourage you to apply. Entry-Level NAs are welcome to apply!
- Basic patient care: help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating
- Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation
- Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
- EKG lead maintenance: ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Non-Certified Nursing Assistant’s (NA’s) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
- Observation: monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff
Qualifications
1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred.
2. Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
4. Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
