About the Role
The Data Products team is responsible for the operational delivery and integrity of YouGov's syndicated data products, including BrandIndex — a continuous survey-based product that tracks brand health and consumer sentiment across global markets for some of the world's largest brands.
As a Data Operations Analyst, you will hold end-to-end operational ownership for a portfolio of BrandIndex accounts and sectors. The role spans the full operational lifecycle of the product: survey scripting and launches, data configuration and delivery, custom variable and brand setup, platform administration, and resolution of complex technical issues raised by internal teams and clients.
You will work independently across these workstreams, with your work reviewed at critical points rather than routinely. You will be the reference point for BrandIndex operational knowledge within the team — diagnosing issues where the cause is not immediately apparent, deciding the right course of action where precedent is limited, and improving the processes and documentation the team relies on. You will also provide essential coverage during US business hours.
This role suits an experienced operational professional who is technically confident across several disciplines, comfortable making judgement calls without a template to follow, and able to explain technical detail persuasively to non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Do
Survey Scripting and Launches
Own the scripting and launch of trigger surveys end to end, including feasibility assessment, logic and quota decisions, and pre-launch quality review
Run sector and region launches, including testing and post-launch data review
Perform and own data cleaning and manage updates within the database to ensure accuracy and completeness
RLD Configuration and Data Delivery
Own RLD configuration for assigned client accounts, including generation of exports and metadata files
Build compilers and manage Agiloft requests through to delivery, resolving blockers with upstream teams directly
Hold accountability for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data delivery across your accounts, including where client specifications are incomplete or non-standard
Custom Variables (Triggers)
Conduct and assess feasibility checks for new custom variables, and advise stakeholders where a request cannot be delivered as specified, proposing workable alternatives proposing
Create compilers and submit Agiloft requests
Perform quality checks on scripting, test surveys, and review output data
Manage modifications and deactivations of existing custom variables
Brand Additions
Review and activate QSLs for new brand additions
Own ongoing brand tracking setup and validation
Platform Configuration and User Management
Manage dashboard permissions and access levels
Move users between accounts and edit user information and permissions
Create new company accounts and trial accounts
Migrate user assets as required
Add and manage custom variables within the platform
Client-Facing Documentation
Update and maintain the global brand list and other client-facing documentation
Troubleshooting and Escalation
Investigate and resolve issues related to analysis, dashboards, composite filters, custom sectors, and BrandIndex platform functionality
Respond to internal and client queries regarding the BrandIndex tool interpreting technical detail for audiences unfamiliar with the subject matter
Take operational ownership of BrandIndex Voices delivery as the product scales, defining the setup and data review approach for new workflows rather than following an established one
Internal Audits
Conduct periodic internal sector audits to ensure brands are tracked on time and testing requirements are met
API Support
Own API support end to end: lead onboarding calls, configure permissions and resolve API issues
What We're Looking For
Technical Skills and Experience
Demonstrable hands-on experience in data operations, research operations or data product delivery within a market research, data products or panel environment
Hands-on experience with survey scripting and brand tracking platforms; familiarity with BrandIndex or similar tools is an advantage
Strong working knowledge of data delivery workflows including compilers, exports, and platform configuration
Experience with RLD or similar data configuration system
Working proficiency SQL; Python or R is an advantage
Demonstrable track record of improving an operational process, not only running one
Behavioral Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to quality checking across complex, multi-step workflows
Able to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize effectively under time pressure
Clear and proactive communicator, comfortable working across time zones with US and global stakeholders during US business hours
Technically curious with an appetite for learning new systems and tools
Reliable and accountable, with a track record of accurate, timely delivery
Experience and Qualifications
Degree-level education in a relevant discipline such as Statistics, Data Science, Market Research, Computer Science, or a related field
Proven track record of independent operational delivery in a data products, research delivery or operational data environment
