About this job
The Produce Product & Quality Operations Manager reports to the Lead Trading Manager, Commercial Operations, and is responsible for driving product quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the Produce category.
The role ensures quality standards are maintained from supplier to store, working closely with Produce Greengrocers, Technical and Trading teams, Logistics, and Retail Operations to deliver the best possible products and customer experience.
The role leads quality performance, operational standards, Greengrocer coaching, and WIBI (Would I Buy It) governance.
What you'll do
Lead Produce quality and operational standards across all categories.
Support Greengrocers, Store Managers and field teams through coaching and training.
Act as the key link between traders, technical, suppliers, logistics and retail teams.
Manage quality escalations, investigations and root cause analysis.
Monitor customer complaints, quality metrics and store feedback.
Support governance of Produce policies, procedures and quality standards.
Work collaboratively with traders, technical and suppliers to improve quality and innovation.
Provide operational expertise on launches, trials and seasonal events.
Lead quality projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Own delivery and governance of WIBI standards across stores.
Conduct store visits, audits and reviews to improve standards and capability.
Knowledge & Experience
· Strong understanding of fresh produce supply chains and retail operations.
· Experience managing product quality, supplier performance, or operational standards.
· Knowledge of food safety, compliance, and quality assurance.
· Strong analytical, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
· Experience coaching operational teams and embedding quality focused behaviours.
· Ability to build credible relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
· Passion for delivering outstanding customer outcomes.
