About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Specialty Software Engineer to work on building and supporting the Python based Model Development Platform and SDKs that run the quantitative and qualitative risk and finance models for multiple lines of businesses in a cloud driven big-data environment.
The position will offer the opportunity to work on the latest open-stack technologies in Big Data / Cloud Computing / Gen AI universe. We make extensive use of Spark, Rest API’s, Django, Airflow, React JS to develop and maintain an extensive SDK and Framework to enable self-service development, deployment, and end to end Batch and Real time Forecasting solutions available to our business.
While we focus on integrating with Open-Source Apache and Linux Foundation AI & Data products, we also integrate with the latest commercial solutions like Dremio, OpenShift AI, PowerBI, Google Cloud Products such as Cloud Composer, Data Proc, Vertex AI and more through an API first integration strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Build and maintain the container-based infrastructure layer to enable CPU & GPU computing on the private / public hybrid cloud environment
- Develop solutions to enable Spark based modeling capabilities to Wells Fargo model risk management users in a controlled and efficient manner
- Define and implement API based SDKs or re-usable libraries to enable broader adoption of AI capabilities on a shared analytics platform
- Use a variety of languages, tools, and frameworks to marry data and systems together. Collaborate with modelers, developers, DevOps, and project managers on meeting project goals
- Serve as a technical resource in finding Spark based computing solutions
- Review and evaluate user needs and determine requirements
- Provide technical support, advice, and consultation with the issues relating to supported applications
- Design, code, test, debug and document programs using Agile development practices
- Understand and participate to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
- Conduct research and resolve problems in relation to processes and recommend solutions and process improvements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of development experience on private or public cloud offerings
- 4+ years of working in Python development with Big Data tools such as Spark, Hive, Kafka
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with quantitative model implementation in a big-data environment
- 3+ years of working experience in fine-tuning distributed computing solutions using container-based technology and Spark
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in highly regulated financial services and knowledge in risk and financial forecast domain
- Expertise in designing, building, and deploying cloud solutions within Agile framework in a highly matrixed environment
- Expertise in RESTful API design and development experience
