As a Laundry Worker, you will be responsible for collecting soiled linen, delivering clean linen throughout the hospital, and restocking departments based on established par levels. In this role, you will ensure an adequate supply of clean linen by replenishing hospital units as needed and organizing excess inventory in the laundry department.
A caregiver in this role works days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Collect soiled linen from all chutes and floors when necessary.
Load soiled linen into designated carts and covers per Infection Control guidelines.
Deliver soiled linens to the dock for pick up by appropriate party.
Move clean linen from dock to the Linen area utilizing freight elevator.
Unload clean linen into appropriate carts or shelves.
Load floor delivery carts and deliver to end using departments.
Return linen carts to storage area.
Refill linen storage areas on floors in the afternoon.
Receive and record messages and requests for linen delivery, then make the necessary deliveries.
Receive soiled uniforms and scrubs and deliver scrubs when necessary.
Place orders for linen on an as needed basis.
Fill out laundry report daily.
Perform other duties within the Environmental Services department as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math, including addition and subtraction
Ability to work independently
Strong customer service and team orientation
Ability to construct alternative positive problem resolutions
Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 50 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to inspect equipment
Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products
May come into contact with communicable diseases and/or body fluids
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
