Safety Coordinator – Phoenix Products

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Job Role

Maintain a daily presence on the shop floor throughout all production areas, conduct routine safety observations/audits and coach employees on safe work practices.

 

Build positive relationships with hourly employees and supervisors

 

Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, process risks in real time, & promote a proactive “See Something, Say Something” culture.

 

Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, & company standards

 

Support all safety programs including PPE, LOTO, Haz. Com., respiratory protection, fall protection, electrical safety, ergonomics, hot work, etc.

 

Conduct scheduled daily, weekly, & monthly safety inspections

 

Respond to all injuries, near misses, property damage, spills, and safety concerns. Lead or assist investigations, determine root cause, and develop corrective actions.

 

Assist Safety Manager with plant-wide initiatives, participates in risk assessments/JHA’s, participates in Branch Safety Meetings and Production Committee Meeting.

 

Support fire drills, evacuation plans, severe weather readiness, and emergency response procedures.

 

Help prepare KPI reports – RIF rate, near misses, hazard ID’s, audit scores, etc.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

 

Formal Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: 3-4 years

Required / Credentials

Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.

 

2+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or warehouse environment preferred.

 

Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry standards.

 

Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis and employee safety training.

 

Strong communication and coaching ability.

 

Able to work in fast-paced production environment.

 

Be comfortable confronting unsafe behaviors professionally.

 

Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, reporting systems).

  

Not Required but Highly Desired Criteria

 

OSHA 10/30 General Industry

 

First Aid / CPR Certification

 

Forklift trainer experience

 

Incident investigation training

 

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

 

Associate Safety Professional
