Description

Summary

Becoming a Senior Electrical Engineer at MG Engineering is not just a promotion, it is a calling. It marks the shift from technical authority to institutional architect, from project leader to standard-bearer. Where Lead Electrical Designers command excellence within their scopes, Senior Electrical Engineer define and scale that excellence across systems, teams, and time.

This transition represents a profound evolution: from mastering how to deliver projects, to shaping how MGE delivers as a firm. You are no longer simply the most capable engineer in the room; you are the one who defines what capability looks like. You develop standards that outlast deadlines, mentor senior engineers into future leaders, and ensure that the firm’s electrical design reputation is as strong in culture as it is in quality.

Qualifications

  • Bring 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical system design, including large-scale, high-performance, and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrate mastery in electrical engineering fundamentals, distribution design, power system analysis, lighting controls, and advanced system integration across diverse building types.
  • Author electrical specifications, panel schedules, and sequences of operation with precision and independence.
  • Possess expert-level fluency in electrical codes, energy standards, and constructability practices, and are a trusted authority on their implementation firmwide.
  • Have led QA/QC initiatives, standards development, and firmwide process refinement efforts.
  • Mentor senior designers and engineers with intention, growing both technical confidence and leadership capability.
  • Are a recognized internal voice of clarity, relied upon to shape best practices, resolve ambiguity, and guide decisions with authority and care.
  • Represent MGE confidently in industry forums, client strategy sessions, and project pursuits.
  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering; PE license highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Discipline Leadership & Standardization

  • Lead the development, refinement, and enforcement of MGE’s electrical design standards, specifications, documentation tools, and QA/QC protocols.
  • Drive innovation in electrical system strategies, load analysis, lighting control design, and distribution architecture, ensuring our work remains at the forefront of industry advancement.
  • Translate deep technical expertise into repeatable, scalable design frameworks that support cross-project consistency and quality.

Senior Talent Development

  • Mentor Level 4 Lead Designers and high-performing Level 3 engineers, building the next generation of technical and operational leaders.
  • Conduct structured redlines, peer reviews, and feedback sessions that elevate both technical clarity and team confidence.
  • Shape advancement paths, performance expectations, and leadership development programs that align with MGE’s values and long-term goals.

Project Excellence & Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical oversight on the firm’s most intricate projects, supporting team leaders with review, guidance, and strategic intervention when needed.
  • Act as a senior resource in early-phase strategy, fee negotiations, project scoping, and design narrative development.
  • Ensure electrical systems are integrated, buildable, and aligned with budget, client goals, and MEP coordination standards.

Firmwide & Industry Presence

  • Represent MG Engineering as a respected voice in industry panels, peer forums, and technical presentations.
  • Collaborate with leadership across architecture and engineering disciplines to align design direction and project execution across trades.
  • Support pursuit strategy, client engagement, and business development efforts with technical insight and trusted presence.
