The International Quantitative Equity Trader (Asia and Europe Markets) will be an integral member of the Equity Trading Team at Dodge & Cox. The Equity Trading team is responsible for implementing tactical and investment decisions in markets globally. It is comprised of creative problem solvers who not only execute trades but also work closely with investment committee members, research analysts, portfolio implementation and trade analytics and strategy teams to understand investment objectives to develop strategic approaches to source liquidity.

 

The International Quantitative Equity Trader will be an integral part of a strong teamwork culture where collaboration and cooperation drive communication and the decision-making process. He or she will primarily trade either Asia or Europe or both market hours which translate to working either 6:00 pm to 2:00am San Francisco time or 12:00am to 7:00am San Francisco time.

Key Responsibilities


  • Implement investment policy decisions and cash flow trades by leveraging data and quantitative methods
  • Advocate changes to trading strategies and processes to achieve better trade execution outcomes for clients
  • Partner with trade strategy team to develop and enhance execution strategies: by customizing broker algorithms and pre- / post- trade analytics to improve trade performance
  • Collaborate with the trade strategy team to build a quantitative trading framework to identify trade signals using market data. Lead and help equity traders to incorporate the trading signals into their trading workflow.
  • Develop and execute equity-linked currencies and currency hedging strategies
  • Develop and manage broker relationships to source liquidity
  • Communicate market and execution updates verbally and in writing to other traders, research analysts, portfolio managers and policy committee members
  • Provide equity trading presentations to existing and potential clients and consultants
  • Collaborate with other traders and the Operations, Legal/Compliance, and IT departments on ad-hoc projects

Ideal Candidate Profile

Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of full time or internship experience in trading
  • A strong academic record; MFE/MBA preferred
  • CFA designation or interest in obtaining the CFA designation
  • Quantitative trading experience. Solid understanding of trading algorithms and statistical modelling preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of either Asian or European or both market microstructure and exchange rules and regulations
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint. Python or R preferred
  • Experience analyzing trade executions and performance
  • Willingness and flexibility to cover different markets and trading hours
  • Familiarity with modern AI tools and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, LLM-based tools) to accelerate research, prototyping, and workflow automation

The salary range for this position is $150,000k - $175,000k.

The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration.  Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit.  Dodge & Cox also provides additional benefits such as commuter, health & wellness, backup care, matching gift, employee assistance, and life and disability insurance. The listed pay scale reflects the base salary Dodge & Cox reasonably expects to pay for this position and is not a reflection of the highest and lowest base salary of any current Dodge & Cox employee.  Actual base salary will be based on factors such as the candidate's prior relevant experience (including within and external to Dodge & Cox, as applicable), education, skills, and knowledge.
