Seed Handler - Receiving

Description

As a Seed Handler on the Receiving team you receive, verify, record, and move incoming seed so it is accurately accounted for and available for production. You use SAP, check labels and calculations, inspect deliveries for damage or contamination, and communicate issues to the receiving team. Careful handling keeps valuable seed in the right location and gives production reliable material to work with.

Job Responsibilities

• Receive dock deliveries and record incoming seed accurately so receiving work continues without avoidable delays.
• Use SAP to complete receiving functions and lab orders, including the calculations and records needed to process seed correctly.
• Check seed labels, double-check calculations, and verify that seed is separated and directed to the correct storage location.
• Follow quality-control measures and watch for tampering, contamination, or damage; photograph damaged material and communicate the issue to the team.
• Move seed to vaults and complete the tares/pouches process so material is available for production in a timely manner.
• Answer the dock door and communicate clearly with team members about deliveries, discrepancies, damage, and next steps.
• Check invoicing associated with received seed.
• Take samples and make storage or receiving adjustments as directed by the receiving process.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and understand simple calculations used in receiving.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
• Forklift certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Sit or stand 100% of the day, including standing for long periods.
• Use fingers and hands 100% of the day.
• Reach 25% of the day; reach includes lifting above shoulder.
• Push or pull up to 40 pounds.
• Lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a cold vault of 40 degrees for short periods of time.
• Bring winter clothes for cold-vault work; cut-off gloves are provided.
• Work in hot and/or cold conditions on the receiving dock.

Hourly Pay Range: $16 – 19 / hour
