Cybersecurity Senior Engineer - IT Endpoint Engineering (Remote)

Position Purpose:

The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the IT Endpoint Engineering and Security team. This role develops, maintains, and supports enterprise endpoint infrastructure, platforms, and services across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.

The Senior Systems Engineer will support technologies spanning endpoint management, patch management, software delivery, vulnerability remediation, endpoint security, configuration management, and automation. Relevant platforms may include Tanium, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft Intune, Broadcom Altiris, BigFix, Ivanti, or similar enterprise endpoint management and software distribution technologies.

This engineer will partner with architecture, security, infrastructure, and operations teams to continuously improve and mature endpoint services through strategic initiatives, automation, and operational improvements.

Senior Systems Engineers are expected to leverage enterprise tooling, scripting, automation, telemetry, and custom applications to monitor service health, optimize performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve the reliability and scalability of endpoint services.

The role may participate in an on-call rotation supporting routine upgrades, platform maintenance, application support, security remediation, root cause analysis, and post-mortem reviews related to service interruptions or security incidents.

The Senior Systems Engineer is expected to operate independently while also serving as a technical mentor to other engineers. Based on their experience,

Senior Engineers will help establish engineering standards, create and improve operational processes, lead technical initiatives, and ensure engineering and operational best practices are followed.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Endpoint Engineer, Security Engineer, or similar technical role.
• Hands-on experience with one or more enterprise endpoint management, patching, software delivery, or configuration management platforms such as Tanium, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), Microsoft Intune, Broadcom Altiris, BigFix, Ivanti, or similar technologies.
• Experience deploying software, patches, configuration changes, and remediation actions across large endpoint or server environments.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting Windows, macOS, and/or Linux endpoints, including operating system configuration, application behavior, system performance, and connectivity.
• Experience troubleshooting endpoint-to-server and endpoint-to-cloud network communications.
• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and application services, including databases and supporting platform components.
• Experience with operating system command-line utilities and scripting or automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, or similar languages.
• Experience working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional engineering organization.
• Experience operating or delivering a production service and providing recommendations related to service strategy, architecture, reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis across complex enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise patch management, vulnerability remediation, application deployment, software distribution, or endpoint configuration management at scale.
• Experience with endpoint management technologies such as Tanium, SCCM/MECM, Intune, Altiris, BigFix, Ivanti, or similar platforms.
• Experience with endpoint security technologies including Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), anti-malware, application control/allowlisting, file integrity monitoring, vulnerability management, or device management.
• Experience with endpoint security products such as CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Palo Alto Cortex, or similar technologies.
• Experience integrating vulnerability management and endpoint management platforms to automate identification and remediation of vulnerabilities.
• Experience managing physical and virtual infrastructure and troubleshooting network, systems, application, or security-related issues.
• Experience installing, upgrading, and maintaining enterprise applications, databases, or infrastructure platforms.
• Familiarity with systems architecture, environment analysis, and technical design.
• Familiarity with software troubleshooting tools, runtime analysis, application dependencies, software packaging, and software update technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or AWS.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with thousands of endpoints or servers.
• Experience supporting highly available or 24x7 production environments, particularly retail or other distributed enterprise environments.
• Experience designing or implementing automation that reduces manual patching, software deployment, vulnerability remediation, or endpoint management processes.

The pay range for this position is between $120,000.00 - $160,000.00
