Description
Overview
Walker Morris is a law firm with a clear strategy, strong momentum and the confidence to keep moving forward. We've built a reputation for delivering exceptional client service while remaining agile, entrepreneurial and future-focused. As we continue to grow, we're investing in the technology, innovation and digital capabilities that will help shape the next chapter of our success.
This is a rare opportunity to join our leadership team as Chief Technology Officer and play a central role in that journey. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner and working closely with the Board and partners, you'll help define how technology, data and AI support our strategic ambitions, strengthen our competitive position and enhance the experience we deliver to clients and our people.
For technology leaders, this is a rare opportunity to combine genuine visibility, influence and pace. As a single-site firm, decisions can be made quickly, relationships are built face-to-face and initiatives can move from idea to implementation without the complexity often found in larger multi-office organisations. You'll have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work across the firm and help shape decisions at the highest level.
If you're looking for a role where you can move beyond operational leadership and play an active part in the future direction of a successful and ambitious law firm, we'd love to hear from you.
As the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Defining and delivering a technology, digital, data and AI strategy that enables the firm's ambitions.
- Championing innovation and the adoption of new technologies that improve client service and business performance.
- Leading business-critical technology and transformation programmes from strategy through to delivery.
- Ensuring the firm's technology, cyber security and data capabilities are robust, secure and future-focused.
- Building high-performing teams and strong partnerships across the business.
- Providing strategic leadership as a member of the Executive Board, contributing to the wider success of Walker Morris.
What we are looking for:
- A proven technology leader with experience shaping and delivering enterprise technology strategy within a complex organisation.
- A track record of leading large-scale technology and business transformation, turning strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Strong understanding of data, digital and AI, with experience using technology to drive innovation, efficiency and commercial value.
- Experience overseeing technology operations, cyber security, risk management and business resilience.
- Commercially astute, with experience managing significant technology investment, supplier relationships and strategic partnerships.
- Credibility and confidence operating at Executive or Board level, influencing senior stakeholders and supporting organisational decision-making.
- An inspiring leader who can build high-performing teams, develop capability and create a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
It would be advantageous if you had:
- Experience within a law firm, professional services business or other knowledge-led organisation.
- Experience leading legal technology, client-facing technology or innovation initiatives.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure and Copilot.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications.
Some of our benefits include:
- A competitive salary based on your experience.
- An annual bonus scheme with the opportunity to earn up to 10% of your salary.
- Free onsite parking.
- At least 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days with service, with the option to buy up to five additional days' leave each year.
- A workplace pension scheme with a minimum firm contribution of 6%.
- Income protection cover.
- Access to Bupa health insurance and health assessments.
- Life assurance of four times your annual salary.
- Hybrid and flexible working commensurate with the demands of the role.
