JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Lead or Principal Technical Product Manager, Content and Tools
Level: Lead or Principal, calibrated to the candidate
Reporting To: Chief Digital, Technology & Data Officer (CTDO)
Location: Remote (U.S.) - Eastern or Central Time Zones strongly preferred. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
HCEsquared® does not sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas.
ROLE SUMMARY
We're hiring a Lead or Principal Technical Product Manager to own HCEsquared's content engine outright — how we produce accredited education, how we publish it, and what new products we build from it.
HCEsquared is a PE-backed specialty healthcare education platform — currently focused on dermatology and expanding into additional medical specialties. We produce more content than our publishing path can absorb. Conference sessions, accredited education, peer-reviewed journal articles, and clinical tools each move through a different workflow, and the metadata that should connect them does not. There is no content operations function today. You will build it.
This is one of two technical product manager roles. You own what we make: content generation, learning and CME delivery, journal publication operations, and the content standards everything downstream depends on. Your counterpart owns where it lives, the audience-facing platforms. The contract between the two is shared and jointly governed.
We are hiring at either Lead or Principal level and will calibrate to the person. The ownership does not change — the content engine is yours either way. What changes is whether you have built one before. The scope also grows with the company, and the person in this seat is positioned for broader product leadership as we enter new specialties. If you want authority over an engine rather than a backlog inside someone else's, this is the role.
Responsibilities
- Own the content product strategy and roadmap. Define what we build across content generation, accredited learning, and publications, sequence it against engineering capacity, and defend the tradeoffs to the executive team. You set the agenda rather than service one.
- Own the content generation platform that turns conference sessions, presentations, and educational video into derivative assets at scale. Define the architecture, the quality gates, and the clinical-accuracy thresholds that govern what reaches a publish queue. Nothing publishes outside that standard.
- Own the content model, taxonomy, and metadata architecture for everything the company produces, and govern the shared content contract jointly with your platform counterpart. Personalization, search, recommendation, and audience reporting are all capped by this layer. Mapping the content estate is your primary deliverable in the first 90 days.
- Own the accredited learning and publications product surface — activity architecture, learning journeys, credit-claim flows, and journal submission and review workflow. Your scope is platform, experience, and capability. Curriculum strategy, faculty, and content approval stay with accredited education behind the ACCME firewall.
- Own the product surface for embedded clinical tools and sponsor-facing digital assets: partner evaluation, integration architecture, and the production standards behind them. Commercial ownership sits elsewhere; the product decisions are yours.
- Build the content operations function. Define the roles and standards, make the build-versus-hire case, and grow the capability as volume scales into additional specialties.
- Create new content products. Identify formats, tools, and data products that create value for HCPs and pharmaceutical sponsors, prototype them, and bring evidence-based recommendations to the CTDO.
Accountabilities
- Content engine producing derivative assets at volume, with a rising first-pass clinical accuracy rate
- Content model, taxonomy, and standards documented, versioned, and adopted across every content source, without locally negotiated exceptions
- Metadata complete enough that personalization and audience reporting are limited by product decisions, not data quality
- Accredited activities and journal publications launching on schedule without manual intervention
- No unplanned breaking changes to the shared content contract
- Content operations function defined, resourced, and scaling with volume
- New content products moving from prototype to revenue, and the engine extending into new specialty markets without linear headcount growth
Experience
- 7+ years in technical product management, content platforms, or digital publishing, including end-to-end ownership of a content or learning platform at scale — architecture and roadmap, not administration. Principal-level candidates will bring 10 or more
- Evidence you can set a standard other teams adopt and hold it under pressure. At Principal we will look for a standard already adopted across an organization and a strategy it executed against; at Lead, the judgment and the appetite to establish one here
- Deep content modeling, taxonomy, and metadata architecture experience on a headless CMS; Storyblok preferred
- Production experience with LLM-powered content generation — evaluation strategy, quality gates, and the accuracy and cost tradeoffs underneath them. Pilots do not count
- Learning management platform ownership: activity architecture, learning paths, and credit or completion reporting. Docebo preferred
- Experience in a regulated or accredited environment where editorial independence must be structurally preserved; ACCME familiarity is a differentiator
- Experience building a function from zero — defining the roles, making the build-versus-hire case, growing the capability — or a clear case for why you are ready to. Either way, appetite for broader product scope as the platform expands
- Comfort working in an AI-assisted development environment (Claude Code or equivalent) is expected. We ship through person-agent pairs
- Healthcare, medical education, or life sciences experience preferred; experience building content capabilities that generalize across markets or specialty areas is a plus
