Position Summary:
The Marketing Director, Infectious Diseases APAC, is responsible for developing and executing the regional growth strategy across the Infectious Diseases portfolio, including Virology, Vector-Borne Diseases, and Respiratory Tract Infections. The role drives sustainable business growth, market expansion, product commercialization, and stakeholder engagement across Asia Pacific. The incumbent partners closely with global, regional, and country leadership teams to identify growth opportunities, accelerate market development, deliver successful product launches, and build a high-performing, data-driven marketing organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver Sustainable Portfolio Growth Across APAC
Achieve or exceed annual revenue, profitability, and market share objectives for the Infectious Diseases portfolio across APAC.
Identify and unlock growth opportunities across priority disease states, customer segments, and geographic markets.
Monitor market performance and competitive dynamics, implementing actions to sustain growth and improve business outcomes.
Ensure commercial strategies are translated into effective country-level execution plans.
2. Develop and Execute APAC Growth, Market Access & Partnership Strategy
Elevate the strategic role of regional marketing beyond campaign execution to include market shaping, access strategy, and commercial growth acceleration.
Balance in-market portfolio maximization and financial performance with longer-term growth opportunities and market shaping and development initiatives.
Partner with countries to strengthen customer insights generation, identify unmet needs, and translate insights into proactive commercial action plans.
Build and institutionalize APAC capabilities in pricing strategy, reimbursement, market access, local portfolio strategy, and business case development.
Identify, evaluate, and drive strategic partnership opportunities, including B2B collaborations, government initiatives, healthcare ecosystem partnerships, and commercial partnerships with pharmaceutical and healthcare organizations.
Develop and implement regional frameworks, tools, and best practices that enable scalable execution while preserving country flexibility.
Assess and recommend the optimal division of responsibilities between Regional and Country Marketing organizations to maximize effectiveness and speed of execution.
3. Lead Market Development and Product Commercialization
Drive best-in-class market development initiatives and product launch execution across APAC markets.
Lead customer segmentation, positioning, value proposition development, and go-to-market planning.
Ensure robust market research and customer insights inform commercialization strategies and investment decisions.
Partner with Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, and R&D teams to accelerate adoption and maximize product lifecycle value.
4. Build Strategic Stakeholder Relationships
Lead executive engagement with key strategic partners, healthcare institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to create sustainable growth opportunities and advance Abbott's leadership position in infectious disease diagnostics.
Develop trusted partnerships with key opinion leaders, distributors, government stakeholders, industry partners, and customer decision-makers.
Strengthen collaboration across affiliate, regional, and global teams to drive alignment and execution excellence.
Serve as a strategic voice for APAC markets, ensuring regional customer needs and market dynamics are reflected in portfolio decisions.
Represent Abbott at key industry forums and strategic customer engagements.
5. Build a High-Performing, Data-Driven Marketing Organization
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the marketing organization.
Develop talent and organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives.
Drive data-based decision making through rigorous forecasting, performance tracking, and return-on-investment measurement.
Optimize resource allocation to ensure marketing investments generate measurable business impact and deliver sustainable growth
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Marketing, Business, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
Minimum 12 years of commercial, marketing, or business leadership experience within healthcare, diagnostics, medical devices, or related life sciences sectors.
Strong preference for candidates with IVD, Diagnostics, Medical Technology, or broader MedTech experience.
Candidates from branded generics pharmaceutical organizations may be considered, provided they demonstrate strong learning agility and capability to rapidly acquire technical and clinical knowledge in diagnostics.
Proven experience in regional APAC roles involving strategy development, commercialization, market access, pricing, and market development.
Demonstrated success in translating strategy into execution through cross-functional and country leadership.
Experience working effectively across global, regional, and local stakeholders within matrix organizations.
