Job Description:
Job Purpose
To support the effective operation of retail systems, labour standards, operational data, and store processes by maintaining accurate system configuration, information, and documentation. The role uses operational insight, data analysis, and close collaboration with partners to find opportunities for improvement, support operational change, and help ensure stores are equipped with practical, effective, and efficient ways of working.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain and administer operational systems (including new user configuration), supporting their ongoing accuracy, compliance, usability, and effective operation.
- Maintain site attributes, operational data, labour standards, planning assumptions, operational drivers, and system settings, ensuring information remains accurate and reflects agreed operational requirements.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve store operational systems, tools, and processes, supporting the implementation of approved changes.
- Provide subject matter support on store operations, workforce planning, labour systems, operational configuration, and related business tools, assisting with complex queries and issue resolution.
- Maintain store process documentation, ensuring operational procedures remain accurate, up to date, clearly documented, and easily accessible.
- Analyse store activities, processes, and operational data to identify productivity, efficiency, and resource optimisation opportunities, intensifying recommendations where appropriate.
- Support the planning, assessment, and implementation of operational improvements, considering impacts on stores, labour requirements, operational execution, and customer experience.
- Use data and operational insight to find opportunities to improve existing store processes, standards, and ways of working, making recommendations for consideration.
- Build effective relationships with store and functional teams to understand operational challenges and ensure store systems, standards, and processes remain practical and aligned to operational needs.
- Be available to support emergency / critical operational situations as required
Summary Decision Rights
- Authority to maintain store operational systems, data, labour standards, planning assumptions, and process documentation within agreed governance frameworks.
- May implement routine store configuration and process changes within agreed standards and approval limits.
- Responsible for identifying issues and improvement opportunities and recommending actions where appropriate.
- Changes with significant store labour, operational, compliance, customer, or financial impact require approval through the appropriate governance process.
Job Holder Requirements
(Minimum education, experience & capabilities)
Education
- Degree qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
Essential Experience
- Experience working within a customer-focused, high-performing team, with a consistent record of delivering results and supporting continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of retail store operations at Store Manager level, including the factors that influence productivity, efficiency, and resource deployment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to identify issues, evaluate options, and support decision-making.
- Experience working with large datasets, operational systems, and business performance information.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Experience supporting and implementing operational change initiatives, including embedding new processes and ways of working.
- Demonstrated ability to handle priorities, work independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable, curious, and committed to continuous learning, with the ability to work closely with colleagues at all levels and embrace new ideas and change
Desirable Experience
- Experience of working across multiple groups within a large, complex organisation, ideally in a central operations, retail support, or business improvement role.
