Description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Racing is where our story began.

In 1901, Henry Ford climbed into a car he built himself—"Sweepstakes"—and beat America's most famous driver. He wasn't a racer, but he had to win. He did. Ford Motor Company was born from that victory.

That fighting spirit lives on in Ford Racing today. We're the engineers, strategists, and competitors who bring Ford's track-tested edge into every vehicle we build. Every track, every stage, every proving ground—that's where we prove ourselves.

The result: one of the world's most iconic brands, legendary nameplates, and a team unmatched in the industry.

Our mantra: Race to win, engineer to lead.

If you're a competitor, innovator, or performance obsessive, Ford Racing is where you belong. Help us write the next chapter.

In this position...

  • Manage all aspects of a new engine design from concept to launch at a working level. Work closely with component design and release engineers, with powertrain and vehicle engineers, and with purchasing and finance to handle overall program delivery.

What you'll do...

  • Lead component design & release activities
  • Own the 3D models for the entire engine assembly
  • Lead sub-system Component Program Module Team (CPMT) activities
  • Lead WERS (Worldwide Engineering Release System); alerts, concerns and notice processing
  • Lead resolution of major design, manufacturing, program, and launch issues
  • Lead management of casting and machining suppliers for the cylinder block & other similar components
  • Work collaboratively with CAE resources in support of the analysis of cylinder block and other similar components (Structural, thermal, CFD)
  • Create, complete, approve DVPs and oversee testing in support of robust validation
  • Lead development of CPMT documents, including appropriate quality documents (FEDE, ESOW, DFMEA, PTDV, e3P, SCCAF’s, Global Integrator, OPTIX, PPAP, 543 Chart etc.) for program specific sub-system responsibilities.
  • Lead program meetings (EPMT, Design Review, DPMT, Change Control, etc…)
  • Work directly with suppliers, Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and launch teams to support program requirements and resolve quality issues
  • Interface with engine dynamometer testing team
  • Interface with cross-functional teams, such as purchasing, mating components, calibration, & manufacturing
  • Support prototype engine build Program Attribute Team (PAT) (BOM, inspection and prototype fit reviews)
  • Support travel, both domestic and international, when required.

You'll have...

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 6+ years Design and Release Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in CAD (CATIA, NX, CREO, or similar)
  • Technical expertise with Gasoline Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
  • Experience with base engine dynamometer testing
  • Experience with CAE Simulation Methodologies (1D, 3D, FEA, CFD)
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong Leadership ability
  • Working-level CAD experience

Even better, you may have...

  • Ford Ecosystem Experience: Prior exposure to Ford's proprietary systems and documents (WERS, FEDE, e3P, etc.) as a direct employee or Tier 1 supplier for a significantly faster ramp-up.
  • Hybrid Powertrain Integration: Experience designing ICE components that mate with hybrid transmission systems or high-voltage components.
  • Advanced Casting Expertise: Deep knowledge of specialized processes (e.g., Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI), Low-Pressure Die Casting) to drive weight reduction and thermal efficiency.
  • Global Launch Experience: Proven success coordinating major engine platform launches across international manufacturing sites (e.g., US, Mexico, Europe).
  • Advanced Root-Cause Methodologies: Formal training in structured problem-solving (8D, Shainin Red X, or Design for Six Sigma) to permanently resolve manufacturing defects.
  • Teamcenter PLM Mastery: Deep expertise in Siemens Teamcenter (or similar PLM tools) to smoothly manage the complex Bill of Materials (BOM) and lifecycle data of the entire engine assembly.
