The Scope
The Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer is responsible for implementing, operating, maintaining, and continuously improving FSC's cloud and on-premises infrastructure services. The role ensures the availability, reliability, security, and performance of infrastructure platforms that support FSC's business operations and digital services.
As part of the Operations & Cybersecurity function within the Technology & Information Unit (TIU), the role works closely with Platform & DevOps, Service Management, Technical Product Owners, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure services through proactive operations, automation, and continuous improvement.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, operate, and continuously improve cloud and on-premises infrastructure services that support FSC's global operations and digital platforms.
- Administer and optimize infrastructure technologies, including cloud platforms, Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, networking, storage, and enterprise collaboration services.
- Manage the infrastructure lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, monitoring, capacity management, and decommissioning.
- Support cloud adoption and modernization initiatives through the implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient hybrid infrastructure solutions.
- Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, security, and operational stability of infrastructure services.
- Deploy, configure, and operate infrastructure using approved automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) patterns, and platform standards established by the Platform & DevOps function.
- Maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities to support organizational resilience.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity team to implement security controls, remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with organizational policies and standards.
- Support networking services, including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, cloud networking, and secure connectivity across distributed environments.
- Support the infrastructure requirements of enterprise cloud, data, analytics, AI, and business application platforms.
- Leverage approved AI-assisted tools to improve troubleshooting, documentation, knowledge management, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, technical standards, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Contribute to infrastructure projects, audits, service improvements, and other duties as assigned in alignment with organizational needs.

- Operate within the TIU operating model, including ITIL-aligned service management, change and release processes, architecture governance, and demand management.
- Collaborate across Platform & DevOps, Cybersecurity, Service Management, and business teams to deliver reliable and secure services.
- Maintain essential operational documentation, including runbooks, support models, and key technical decisions.
- Adopt automation-first and AI-assisted approaches to improve efficiency, consistency, and service quality.
Your profile
Education and Training
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications are desirable, such as Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Specialist, Terraform Associate, or equivalent cloud and infrastructure certifications.
Working Experience, Style, and Skills
- 3+ years of experience supporting cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments, including Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, networking, and enterprise infrastructure services.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, infrastructure operations, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
- Collaborative, proactive, and results-driven, with a focus on service reliability, operational excellence, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-assisted tools and modern technologies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective team player with the ability to work across Infrastructure, Platform & DevOps, Cybersecurity, and business teams.
Computer Skills
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, identity and access management, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Understanding of networking technologies, including LAN/WAN, VPN, network segmentation, routing, and switching.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational tooling.
- Familiarity with cloud-native data and AI platforms, including Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI services, from an infrastructure and operational support perspective.
- Skilled in implementing and supporting security, compliance, and governance requirements across hybrid environments.
Language and Communication Skills
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- German is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Location: Bonn, Germany.
Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
