A leading organisation is recruiting on behalf of a client for a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic leadership across a complex, revenue-generating environment. The successful candidate must have previous experience in delivering organisational turnaround and business strategies and will be responsible for leading and executing the organisation’s operational strategy, ensuring sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and organisational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Driving revenue growth and achieving strategic business objectives.
- Leading national and international business development initiatives and identifying new growth opportunities.
- Overseeing operational functions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement.
- Providing strategic guidance on business expansion, diversification, partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, governance frameworks, and organisational policies.
- Managing stakeholder relationships and enhancing the organisation’s reputation through effective communication and engagement.
- Leading, developing, and retaining high-performing teams while fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and excellence.
- Overseeing financial governance and ensuring sound financial management practices.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9 preferred) in Leadership, Business Management, or a related field.
- Degree in Engineering, Science, STEM, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years' relevant experience in business management or a similar environment.
- At least 5 years' senior management experience and 5 years' executive leadership experience.
- Proven success in developing and executing local and international growth strategies.
- Demonstrated experience leading revenue-generating portfolios and organisational transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, compliance, and financial management principles.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience within engineering, science, quality assurance, standards, conformity assessment, or similar technical environments will be advantageous.
- Exposure to Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), project financing, capital raising, and turnaround strategies will be beneficial.
