Position Summary
Supervises, develops, and coordinates activities of maintenance associates responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment/machinery, physical structures, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire and develop a skilled maintenance team to support operations, facilities, and grounds.
- Provide coaching and performance management for maintenance personal to optimize the team effectiveness. This includes daily feedback, recognition, write and deliver performance reviews and take disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Promote safety and ensure team members awareness and adherence to health and safety policies and regulations.
- Plan, organize, and schedule the work of department team members to complete projects, preventative maintenance, and repairs to high quality standards that support customer satisfaction.
- Lead and facilitate communication meetings, such as daily shift start-up meetings, monthly safety meetings, etc.
- Set performance expectations and measure effectiveness of resources, schedule configuration and results with metrics.
- Lead initiatives to continuously maintain and improve the safety and appearance of the buildings and grounds.
- Create and implement efficient methods for managing maintenance activities, work requests, purchasing and stocking of parts.
- Manage an effective preventative maintenance program.
- Develop written standard operating procedures and work instructions for key processes.
- Communicate maintenance activities with operations supervisors.
- Develop and implement cross-training.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance team.
- Active leadership and support of Operational Excellence, Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement process.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering personnel to evaluate and resolve facility and equipment problems. Including obtaining and coordinating the materials, equipment, and resources necessary to complete necessary repairs.
- Review production and maintenance reports and statistics to plan maintenance activities.
- Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
- Undertake job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's Core Values.
- Maintain a high level of employee morale within the department.
- Conduct monthly department safety meetings with all department associates. Assure this training is presented and understood by those involved. Keep up to date with the required safety training and adhere to this training.
- Directly supervise 7-15 employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including exhibiting core value behavior. Responsibilities include hiring and training employees; assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field desired; minimum of one to three years related leadership experience in a manufacturing maintenance setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
Required Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical workings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabrication
- Understanding of PLC’s, controls and electrical requirements
- Ability to organize and communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodology.
- Close attention to detail and ability to prioritize is critical.
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse team of people.
- Proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong proficiencies in internal software: Maintenance and ERP/Epicor.
- Familiarity with Window and Wall Systems' products and processes
Work Environment/Travel Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the production floor the noise level may be loud.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
10% - one week per quarter, plus 1-2 times a year additional for corporate, training, etc.
