The Job: Fund Accountant (Medior) (24-months FTE contract)

The key responsibilities of the department include:

  • Providing a high-quality Fund Accounting service to FNZ Ireland's clients and acting as a key point of contact for operational and accounting queries.
  • Producing accurate and timely fund valuations and Net Asset Values (NAVs), ensuring all deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Reviewing and analysing fund accounting information to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Executing trades with international fund managers in accordance with client mandates and investment guidelines.
  • Managing treasury activities and monitoring cash positions to ensure efficient liquidity management.
  • Recording, reviewing and validating fund transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performing complex reconciliations and investigating reconciling items to resolution.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Liaising directly with clients, custodians, fund managers, brokers, auditors and banking partners on operational matters.
  • Supporting new client onboarding, fund launches and change initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and operational efficiency.
  • Assisting in the training and development of junior team members and providing guidance on day-to-day activities.
  • Utilising FNZ's technology platforms and reporting tools to investigate issues and enhance service delivery.
  • Ensuring all activities are performed in line with internal controls, policies and regulatory requirements.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Fund Accounting, Investment Operations, Financial Services Operations or a related discipline. They will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of deliverables within a fast-paced environment.

They should also have:

  • A degree in Commerce, Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years' experience in Fund Accounting, Financial Services, Investment Operations or a similar role.
  • A strong understanding of fund accounting principles, unit pricing and reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with SQL, Power BI, data analytics or automation tools would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and driving improvements.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A customer-focused mindset and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Knowledge of a European language would be beneficial but not essential.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
