We are currently in URGENT need of a Primary Care Physician (PCP) for a full-time assignment at a correctional facility located in Chowchilla, California.

This opportunity offers a highly competitive $220 per hour rate, consistent hours, and the opportunity to provide essential medical care within California's correctional healthcare system.

Position Overview

The Primary Care Physician will provide comprehensive medical services to patients within a correctional healthcare setting.

Working under the direction of designated facility medical leadership, the physician will provide high-quality primary care services in accordance with accepted standards of medical practice, applicable laws and regulations, policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions.

• Conduct patient examinations, review medical histories, order appropriate diagnostic testing, and develop individualized treatment plans.

• Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable standards of care.

• Monitor patients' clinical progress and modify treatment plans when medically appropriate.

• Identify patients who may require specialty consultation, diagnostic procedures, or a higher level of care and initiate appropriate authorization requests.

• Complete all required clinical documentation, treatment forms, referrals, and medical records accurately and within required timeframes.

• Follow established utilization management and prior-authorization procedures for applicable specialty services, consultations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.

• Collaborate with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

• Follow medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, infection-control practices, and established standards of care.

• Coordinate with facility medical leadership regarding medically necessary treatment, referrals, and patient transfers when required.

• Participate in clinical reviews when requested by facility medical leadership, including reviews involving adverse outcomes, complex cases, and quality-of-care concerns.

• Review patient health records and provide written clinical assessments or review documentation when required.

• Participate in Professional Practice Committee activities and other clinical quality-improvement activities when requested.

• Provide medical services consistent with generally accepted professional standards and within the physician's authorized scope of practice.

• Maintain a professional, collaborative, and patient-focused approach while working within the policies and security requirements of a correctional healthcare environment.
