Decorator Operator

Description

SUMMARY 

Responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used in the decoration process of can manufacturing. Play a crucial role in ensuring that cans are properly decorated with labels, prints, or coatings according to the specifications and quality standards set by the company. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Machine Operation: Operate and control the decoration machinery used in the can-making process. This may include equipment such as printing machines, labeling machines, coating machines, or other automated systems.
• Setup and Adjustments: Set up the machines for specific can sizes, labels, or prints. Make necessary adjustments to ensure proper alignment, color registration, or coating thickness.
• Quality Control Monitor the production process to ensure that the decoration meets the required quality standards. Inspect decorated cans for defects, such as misalignment, smudging, or color variations. Take corrective actions when necessary to maintain product quality. 
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance tasks on the decoration machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs. Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify malfunctions, and resolve them in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards related to can manufacturing, decoration processes, and workplace safety.
• Documentation and Reporting: Keep detailed records of production output, machine performance, and any issues encountered during the decoration process. Report any equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or deviations from the standard operating procedures to the supervisor or maintenance team.
• Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with other team members, such as machine operators, technicians, or supervisors, to ensure smooth production flow. Communicate effectively regarding production schedules, material requirements, or any other relevant information.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, such as reducing waste, increasing efficiency, or enhancing quality. Suggest and implement innovative ideas to optimize the decoration process.

Food Safety  

Responsible and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues; and empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work. If this position is vacant for any significant period of time the obligation for completion of all food safety and quality related tasks will become the responsibility of the direct manager or a qualified designee.

Education: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Skills/Knowledge: 

Has learned the basic skills and routine tasks necessary. Beginning to learn advanced skills and gaining an understanding of the total process flow. 

Computer Skills:  

Must have basic knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
