Description
The energy transition needs more than strong technology. It needs commercially minded people who can identify opportunities, build relationships and turn market demand into profitable growth.
We are looking to connect with experienced Business Development and Sales professionals for current and upcoming opportunities across the UK solar and battery energy storage market.
These positions may be available with equipment manufacturers, system integrators, developers, EPC contractors, distributors, technology providers and specialist energy businesses.
The commercial remit
Depending on the opportunity, you may be responsible for developing new business across utility-scale, commercial and industrial, or distributed-energy markets.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Identifying and developing new sales opportunities across solar and battery storage.
- Building relationships with developers, EPC contractors, installers, asset owners and commercial energy users.
- Managing opportunities from initial engagement through proposal, negotiation and contract award.
- Developing account plans and regional growth strategies.
- Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and revenue forecast.
- Working with technical teams to shape commercially viable solutions.
- Preparing proposals, presentations and tender responses.
- Negotiating pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements.
- Representing the business at industry events, conferences and customer meetings.
- Monitoring competitor activity, market developments and customer requirements.
- Supporting product launches and entry into new market segments.
- Developing partnerships with distributors, installers and other channel organisations.
- Reporting on sales activity, conversion rates and market feedback.
The candidate
We are interested in speaking with professionals who have sold products, services or projects within one or more of the following areas:
- Battery energy storage systems.
- Solar photovoltaic equipment.
- Inverters and power-conversion systems.
- Electrical balance-of-system equipment.
- Renewable energy development.
- Energy management or optimisation software.
- EV charging and distributed-energy technology.
- Grid, power or electrical infrastructure.
Suitable candidates are likely to bring:
- A successful track record in business development, technical sales or account management.
- Experience building relationships across the UK energy market.
- The ability to manage complex and sometimes lengthy sales cycles.
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
- Confidence discussing technical solutions with engineering and procurement stakeholders.
- The ability to develop new accounts while maintaining existing relationships.
- Clear written, verbal and presentation skills.
- A structured approach to pipeline management and forecasting.
Experience with developers, EPC contractors, commercial energy users, installers or channel partners may be particularly valuable.
A technical or engineering qualification may be beneficial but is not essential where the candidate can demonstrate strong sector knowledge and commercial success.
Location and travel
Opportunities will be centred around London, with travel expected for customer meetings, industry events and project discussions across the UK.
Some employers may offer hybrid or remote working, although regular face-to-face engagement with customers and internal teams is likely to remain important.
Candidates based in London, the South East or within practical travelling distance may be suitable.
Package
Base salary, commission, bonus, car allowance, equity, pension and wider benefits will vary according to the employer and seniority of the position.
Full details will be discussed before your information is shared for any opportunity.
Applications are welcomed from proven renewable-energy sales professionals and from high-performing business developers in adjacent electrical or infrastructure markets who are ready to move into solar and battery storage.
