POSITION OVERVIEW

Treston Security Services is seeking professional, dependable, and qualified Unarmed Security Officers for a permanent supportive housing property located in the Downtown Los Angeles/Skid Row area.

Officers assigned to this location must be comfortable working in an active urban environment and interacting professionally with residents, visitors, property management, service providers, and individuals experiencing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, or substance-use concerns.

This position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, professional communication, detailed report writing, and the ability to use verbal de-escalation techniques when responding to challenging situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a professional, alert, and highly visible security presence
• Monitor entrances, exits, common areas, and surrounding property areas
• Conduct routine interior and exterior foot patrols
• Assist with access control and enforcement of property rules
• Observe and report suspicious, unsafe, or unauthorized activity
• Respond appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, and resident concerns
• Use professional communication and verbal de-escalation techniques
• Contact emergency services when circumstances require immediate assistance
• Complete accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and patrol documentation
• Immediately notify Treston management of serious incidents or emergencies
• Coordinate professionally with property management, law enforcement, fire personnel, and emergency medical services
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, incidents, and property operations
• Follow all post orders, company policies, and client-specific procedures
• Participate in required training, briefings, and performance evaluations
• Perform other security-related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid and current California BSIS Guard Card
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be comfortable working in the Downtown Los Angeles/Skid Row area
• Must be available to work one of the posted schedules consistently
• Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to report to scheduled shifts on time
• Strong communication, observation, and customer-service skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful or confrontational situations
• Ability to write clear, accurate, and detailed activity and incident reports
• Must maintain a working cellphone for operational communication
• Must maintain a professional appearance and comply with all uniform and grooming requirements
• Must successfully complete all applicable company screening and onboarding requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in permanent supportive housing, affordable housing, residential security, social services, or similar environments
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, or substance-use concerns
• Experience with verbal de-escalation, crisis response, access control, and incident reporting
• Strong customer-service and conflict-resolution skills
• Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus
• Veterans and candidates with relevant public safety or military experience are encouraged to apply

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to conduct interior and exterior foot patrols throughout the assigned shift
• Ability to climb stairs, bend, and move throughout the property
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to remain alert and responsive throughout the entire shift
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Assignment is located in the Downtown Los Angeles/Skid Row area
• Officers will work in an active permanent supportive housing environment
• Regular interaction with residents, visitors, service providers, and members of the public is required
• On-site parking is provided for assigned officers
• Officers must wear the complete Treston Security Services uniform and comply with all grooming standards
• Weekends and holidays may be required based on the selected schedule and operational needs
