POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Creative Content coordinates all creative content activities relevant to his/her assigned sports, including videography, photography, and graphic design. This person serves as the primary visual storyteller for coaches and student-athletes and works continually to promote the image of Richmond Athletics, using available data and analytics to guide content strategy and resource allocation.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary creative content contact for men’s basketball and at least two additional sports assigned by supervisor by directing graphic design, video production, photography, and social media operations. Sport assignments are subject to change. (70%)
- Produce original recruiting materials highlighting assigned sports programs and what they offer prospective student-athletes. (10%)
- Maintain organized, manageable visual archives (photo/video) for all assigned sports. (10%)
- Promote additional Athletics Department initiatives, such as leadership curriculum, academic programs, and special events, through original videography, photography, and visual storytelling. (10%)
CONTACTS:
- Coaching staffs and student-athletes – to film or photography practices, games, and other team events.
- Athletic staff from other schools and conferences – to obtain access to away events and share footage and photos.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
- Assist with the day-to-day supervision of graduate and undergraduate student assistants.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Some physical demand of transporting equipment for game management at athletic events is required (cameras, tripods, lighting, etc.).
- Travel with teams as assigned to produce creative content for RichmondSpiders.com and social media, including, video and photographs.
- Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; 38.75 hours per week. Some weekends and evenings. Travel is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess athletic creative content experience, including, photography, videography, and design, at the college or professional level.
- Excellent communications skills; Individual should have working knowledge of Mac operating system, video operation and editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, Lightroom, Photoshop).
- Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 1-3 years in college or professional athletic creative content.
Salary Structure:
Pay Grade 5 (Salary): $43,867 to $58,136
