Our client is seeking a Director of Strategy and Accounts to serve as a senior leadership pillar in evolving their agency into a scalable, professionally managed organization. The incoming Director will act as the primary strategic marketing leader—owning marketing execution across all service lines, directing team performance, and overseeing account management and day-to-day internal operations. This role is designed for a commercially minded leader who can think at the business level, establish scalable systems, elevate client strategy, and drive operational excellence alongside the owner.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Marketing Leadership
- Develop, own, and continuously refine the company's overall digital marketing strategy across all service lines.
- Monitor and evaluate campaign and channel performance — identifying what is working, what needs adjustment, and where the greatest opportunities lie.
- Stay ahead of evolving digital trends, AI-driven tools, and industry best practices, and ensure the company's approach reflects them.
- Drive the strategic direction of client accounts, ensuring work delivered is aligned with both client objectives and company standards.
Team Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the team — setting clear expectations, fostering accountability, and building a high-performance culture.
- Oversee project management across active accounts — ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and client commitments are met consistently on time and on budget.
- Establish and refine internal workflows, processes, and systems to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Work directly on select accounts as needed, providing senior-level strategic input and quality control.
Analytics & Performance Reporting
- Define and manage the company's analytics and reporting framework — both internally (team and business performance) and externally (client results).
- Translate data into clear, actionable strategic direction for the team and meaningful performance narratives for clients.
- Identify performance gaps early and implement corrective strategies proactively.
AI & Technology Integration
- Champion the adoption of AI-driven tools, automation, and emerging technologies across service delivery and internal operations.
- Evaluate and implement tools that enhance team productivity, campaign performance, and client reporting capabilities.
- Build AI literacy and capability as a competitive differentiator.
Business Management & Presidential Development
- Progressively assume responsibility for day-to-day business management, including vendor relationships, financial oversight, and team resourcing.
- Work closely with the owner to understand the full business — operations, financials, client mix, and strategic vision.
- Participate in annual planning, goal setting, and performance reviews at the business level.
- Develop into the company's next President, with the owner remaining available as a strategic advisor and active partner in business development.
Qualifications:
- 7–12 years of progressive experience in digital marketing, with at least 3–4 years in a leadership or senior management capacity.
- Agency background strongly preferred — familiarity with managing multiple client accounts, service delivery models, and account teams.
- Demonstrated experience in a role where accountable for marketing strategy and team performance — not just execution.
- Deep, current knowledge across SEO, paid media, social, content, and web — and the ability to evaluate and direct work in each.
- Proficiency in performance analytics platforms; ability to extract insights, spot trends, and build reporting that drives decisions.
- Practical experience applying AI tools in a marketing or agency context.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Commercially minded with basic understanding of P&L, resource allocation, and running a profitable service business.
- Clear, confident communicator.
The ideal candidate is a strategic marketing leader who can think at the business level, evaluate performance rigorously, guide the team with authority and clarity, and build the systems and culture that allow the company to scale. You are comfortable operating alongside a hands-on owner, able to take direction on vision while exercising independent judgment on execution.
What will make you stand out:
- Entrepreneurial by nature — motivated by the prospect of long-term leadership, ownership, profit participation, and building something meaningful over time.
- Curiosity about AI and emerging tools — actively using them to improve work and team productivity.
- Readiness and motivation for the presidential pathway as a primary career goal.
