Trainee Claims Handler

Job Location: Glasgow

Job Type: Permanent

Remuneration: Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications

We have a fantastic opportunity for Trainee Claims Handlers in Glasgow.

As a Trainee Claims Handler, you'll manage insurance claims from first report to final settlement, acting as the main contact and decision-maker throughout the customer journey. Working closely with suppliers and contractors, you'll help deliver the best possible outcome for our customers while developing your own expertise within the specialist field of subsidence claims.

Whether you already have some claims experience or are looking to build your knowledge in this area, we'll provide comprehensive training and support to help you develop the technical skills needed to confidently manage subsidence-related claims and progress your career within our award-winning Subsidence team. Working alongside experienced technical experts, suppliers and contractors, you'll learn how to manage claims, support customers, coordinate repairs and remediation activities, and help deliver positive customer outcomes.

Your role will involve managing claim details, maintaining regular contact with customers and suppliers, overseeing repair works, controlling costs and payments, and ensuring claims are handled to the highest technical standards.

We're looking for someone who communicates effectively, stays organised and adapts well to change. You'll be confident using technology, enjoy problem-solving and have a genuine desire to learn and develop new skills.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team, gain specialist subsidence expertise and build a long-term career in claims.

To support training, coaching and development, successful Academy colleagues will be expected to attend our Glasgow office regularly during the initial six-month Academy programme before moving to a more flexible working arrangement

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as a key point of contact for customers throughout their claim journey.
  • Maintaining regular communication with customers, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Managing claim information and ensuring records remain accurate, clear and up to date.
  • Supporting the progression of claims through key milestones and agreed actions.
  • Coordinating activities with engineers, contractors and specialist partners.
  • Monitoring claim progress and helping ensure actions are completed in line with customer and client expectations.
  • Learning specialist subsidence knowledge through our structured Academy programme.
  • Working closely with experienced technical colleagues who will mentor and support your development.

The skills you will have when you apply:

  • We are more interested in finding people with the right attitude and behaviours than previous subsidence experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building ability.
  • Great organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Confidence using technology and digital claims systems.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and curiosity.
  • Resilience and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A genuine desire to develop a specialist career.
  • Commitment to professional development. A dedication to working towards the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters' Cert CILA qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience within customer service, complaints, insurance, financial services, contact centres or other customer-facing environments would be advantageous but is not essential.

The skills that will be developed once working:

  • Comprehensive Training: You'll receive all the Sedgwick-specific training needed to excel in your role.

What we’ll give you for this role:

  • Competitive salary taking into account skills, experience and qualifications
