Varsity Softball Assistant Coach

The Academy of Our Lady of Peace is currently accepting applications for a Varsity Softball Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. This is a seasonal interscholastic coaching position within a competitive CIF girls softball program.

We are seeking a positive, energetic, and team-oriented coach who will serve as a strong role model and represent OLP with integrity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to developing student-athletes. The ideal candidate will bring softball coaching experience and a passion for teaching fundamentals, developing players, and contributing to a positive and competitive team culture.

This role requires a coach who values competitive success while emphasizing character development, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, and personal growth, aligning with the mission and values of OLP.

Length of Work Year: Seasonal – Spring

Additional Expectations:

• Assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of the varsity softball program
• Develop and implement practice plans focused on fundamentals, skill development, and team concepts
• Assist with game preparation, strategy, and in-game coaching
• Provide individual and position-specific instruction to student-athletes
• Help establish and maintain a positive team culture, discipline, and expectations
• Build positive relationships with student-athletes and families
• Communicate effectively with the head coach and athletic administration
• Assist with game-day responsibilities and team operations
• Support the overall goals and vision of the OLP softball program
• Ensure adherence to CIF, school, and athletic department policies and procedures

Requirements / Qualifications:

• Prior softball coaching experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, teaching techniques, and player development
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes
• Ability to collaborate with coaching staff and contribute positively to the overall program

Applicants must have:

• Current TB test
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
• Livescan background clearance

Requirements

Required Documents & Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references from current or former supervisors. Candidates must also provide official transcripts, a current negative TB test result or TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire, complete required training, and successfully complete Livescan fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon obtaining fingerprint clearance from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
