Systems Engineer (Requirements)

Description

Markon is seeking a Systems Engineer to support an Intelligence Community client in Chantilly, Virginia. This position will provide technical expertise in defining, analyzing, and managing requirements that enable the successful development and deployment of Sponsor capabilities. The Systems Engineer will work across requirements engineering, technical assessment, project planning, and capability validation to identify risks, recommend improvements, and help ensure Sponsor-developed solutions achieve mission objectives with the required integrity, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Define, analyze, document, and manage technical requirements supporting Sponsor development activities.
• Develop well-documented, actionable, measurable, testable, and traceable requirements.
• Support essential program management processes, including requirements, resources, schedules, configuration management, and risk management.
• Develop and maintain project plans supporting technical development and mission objectives.
• Coordinate Sponsor technical requirements with stakeholders and communicate potential issues across technical teams.
• Apply structured critical thinking to evaluate Sponsor-developed capabilities for mission integrity, performance, and reliability.
• Identify technical risks and provide sound recommendations to address technical issues and improve system functionality.
• Conduct independent technical assessments of projects and capabilities.
• Identify potential technical issues early in the development lifecycle and clearly communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.
• Forecast technologies and products that could advance the Sponsor’s mission area.
• Support configuration and risk management activities throughout capability development.
• Collaborate with Sponsor Test Teams to support the characterization and validation of newly developed capabilities.
• Support the development of ad hoc test cases to evaluate Sponsor-developed capabilities.
• Work with Sponsor targeting personnel, as required, to identify emerging opportunities that may enable technical operations.
• Support the transition of research concepts into operationally relevant, mission-ready capabilities.
• Develop and maintain technical and project documentation using Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

Required:

• An active TS/SCI with a FS Polygraph (preferrably from this client) is required to be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of related experience;
  • OR a minimum of 7 years of successful experience relevant to the technical function being supported.
• Demonstrated successful experience developing and implementing essential program management processes, including:
  • Requirements and resources.
  • Schedule management.
  • Configuration management.
  • Risk management.
• Ability to develop well-documented, actionable, measurable, testable, and traceable requirements supporting Sponsor development activities.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating Sponsor technical requirements with stakeholders and communicating potential issues.
• Demonstrated experience forecasting technologies and products that advance the Sponsor’s mission area.
• Demonstrated experience providing independent assessments of projects regarding technical risk and recommending potential improvements to technical functionality.
• Demonstrated successful experience applying critical thinking to Sponsor-developed capabilities to assess mission integrity, performance, and reliability.
• Experience developing sound recommendations to address identified technical issues.
• Demonstrated successful experience developing project plans.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Desired:

• Demonstrated successful experience developing comprehensive project plans that transition Sponsor research concepts into mission-ready capabilities.
• Demonstrated successful experience working with Sponsor Test Teams to develop ad hoc test cases that fully characterize Sponsor-developed capabilities.
• Demonstrated successful experience working with Sponsor targeting officers to identify new opportunities that enable technical operations.

Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
