Job Summary

JOB TITLE: North Georgia Mine Manager

LOCATION: Marble Hill, GA

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Mine Manager will be responsible for the management of Underground Mining, Crushing and Sampling for the three North Georgia Operations (Marble Hill, Whitestone, Cisco). The Mine Manager will manage the mining departments in a safe and environmentally friendly manner to achieve production, cost, and quality goals.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote safety consciousness, good housekeeping and maintain a safe work environment.  Direct departmental safety initiatives to target an injury free workplace.

  • Supervising all underground mining operations, mining supervisors, changing methods and operations as necessary to ensure adequate supplies of crude ore are available for processing plants.

  • Evaluates the use of mine labor, equipment, and materials to achieve efficient and best cost operations.

  • Directs all departmental operations in such a manner that all projects are completed in a timely manner, employees are managed effectively and fairly, and all records are maintained accurately.    

  • Twenty-four hour responsibility for all mining operations, equipment, employee safety, and issues affecting the mining operation.

  • Develops and implements short and long term mine plans, including equipment recommendation, selection and procurement to achieve production and cost goals.

  • Develops departmental budgets and tracks actual vs budgetary goals.

  • Participate in the development and installation of capital projects, including both mining equipment and crude ore handling facilities.

  • Trouble-shooting mine and crusher problems as they arise.

  • Maintaining ISO certification through procedures and audits.

  • Responsible for counseling, hiring and terminating employees as needed. 

  • Responsible for securing and managing vendor relationships for mining/crusher equipment maintenance and repair, drilling and blasting services, and miscellaneous support materials. Meet with vendors/contractors as necessary to handle vendor issues.

  • Interface with site maintenance and external vendors on HME troubleshooting and repairs, will require good working knowledge of mobile equipment 

  • Provide necessary inputs to the strategic planning and total facility budget process for the North Georgia Operations.

  • Monitor and insure environmental compliance for the mining operation.

  • Demonstrated experience with UG communications, water management, geotechnical safety and ventilation processes  

  • Ability to interface directly with state and federal regulatory authorities including ATF and MSHA

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with people from all levels of the organization, vendors and customers.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively and to meet deadlines.

  • Technical knowledge of mining and mining equipment.

  • Proficient in various software applications for generating spreadsheets and presentations

  • Good leadership, interpersonal, organizational skills with the ability to effectively supervise diverse work groups.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in a technical field (preferably mining, civil, or geological engineering).

  • 10+ years quarry or mining experience (preferably hard rock mining with 5 years underground experience).

  • 5+ years supervisory experience in mining, quarrying, maintenance, or processing environment.
