Are you someone who enjoys helping people, building relationships, and making the homebuying process a little easier? Soo Co-op Credit Union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer to help members confidently navigate purchasing or refinancing a home.
Whether you bring previous mortgage or lending experience or are ready to grow into the field, this is a great opportunity to build your knowledge, develop relationships, and make a meaningful difference for our members.
What You’ll Do:
- Build strong, professional relationships with members and guide them through the mortgage application and lending process.
- Help members understand their mortgage options and recommend products that best fit their needs.
- Manage mortgage applications through Encompass, complete required calculations and documentation, and ensure loans meet applicable underwriting and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with real estate agents, title companies, appraisers, and other parties to help keep the mortgage process moving smoothly.
- Lock interest rates and prepare, review, and explain mortgage documentation to borrowers.
- Maintain communication with members throughout the process and provide a high level of service from application through closing.
- Cross-train within the Mortgage Department and support the team as needed.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with members, coworkers, and outside partners.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple applications, deadlines, and priorities.
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A professional, member-focused approach and a willingness to learn and continue developing.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and applications.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous mortgage lending experience preferred.
- Familiarity with mortgage lending systems such as FICS and Encompass is preferred, but not required.
Salary Info
- $20.00–$25.00/hour, commensurate with experience; flexibility for highly qualified candidates
