Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nursing Unit Secretary, you will assist the healthcare team in coordinating, prioritizing, and communicating patient, physician, and staff needs, ensuring smooth unit operations.
Every day you will manage essential administrative tasks, facilitate communication flow, and support the efficient delivery of patient care, demonstrating personal accountability for our organizational mission and core values.
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing complex administrative tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Triages patient call lights in a timely manner.
- Monitors the electronic record for new provider-entered orders.
- Coordinates the completion of the orders with nursing staff and other departments as appropriate.
- Utilizes computer technology to access and exchange data, i.e., lab results, interdepartmental communications, etc.
- Maintains thorough and confidential patient charts and records.
- Performs clerical duties, maintains department/unit logs and coordinates services as needed.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
Preferred
- Previous nursing unit secretary or medical office experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
