Description
Performs a variety of functions for the Public Information & Communications Department, including managing city social media channels, and providing general secretarial and administrative/support for the City Manager.

- Monitor city’s and other appropriate departments’ social media channels;
- Monitor city social media channel interactions, comments, and statistics and create monthly report for Public Information & Communications Dept;
- Assist Public Information & Communications Dept as needed;
- Provides information and assistance to a variety of incoming telephone calls and in person requests;
- Performs a variety of routine office support tasks including copying, filing, distribution of mail and receiving bids for Purchasing;
- Performs a variety of secretarial/administrative support work for assigned staff, supervisory and/or management personnel including taking and screens calls and assisting visitors;
- Greets and directs visitors entering City Hall;
- Composes/types routine city board and commission monthly calendar;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Experience in a social media managing role (corporate or private) required;
- Knowledge of the operations and functions of departments listed;
- Knowledge of general office management principles and practices;
- Skill in maintaining confidential information and in the application of judgment in release of information to authorized persons;
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other departmental personnel, outside vendors and the general public;
- Skill in maintaining record systems;
- Skill in following oral and written instructions, policies and procedures;
- Skill in the use of MS Office including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation applications;
- Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including computer, telephone with department directory, copier, and FAX.
Associate’s degree required. Previous experience in a customer service or office environment. Ability to operate a multi-line switchboard/phone, managing and directing multiple calls simultaneously. Excellent phone etiquette and time management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, email and social media management.
