Job Description
The Engineering Technician III functions as a fully contributing technician with ownership of significant hands‑on technical work. The role independently executes moderately complex to complex technical tasks, interprets engineering documentation, and supports resolution of non‑routine technical issues. Success is demonstrated through reliable execution, accurate documentation, effective problem identification, and meaningful contribution to engineering outcomes.
Responsibilities
Advanced Technical & Engineering Support
Independently support complex engineering tests, experiments, and development activities
Build, modify, assemble, and troubleshoot prototypes, test fixtures, and engineering equipment
Execute non‑routine technical tasks requiring interpretation of drawings, procedures, or specifications
Provide hands‑on support for design validation, process development, or product sustainment initiatives
Testing, Data Collection & Problem Resolution
Operate advanced test equipment, instrumentation, and measurement tools with minimal direction
Collect, verify, analyze, and summarize test and engineering data
Identify abnormalities, trends, or failures and collaborate with engineers to resolve issues
Support root‑cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions
Equipment, Tools & Lab Support
Set up, maintain, and perform advanced troubleshooting of test fixtures and laboratory equipment
Coordinate maintenance, calibration, or repair of engineering equipment as needed
Ensure workspaces, tools, and equipment are safe, organized, and production‑ready
Safety, Documentation & Compliance
Ensure work complies with safety requirements, engineering procedures, and quality standards
Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, logs, and test records
Support audits, reviews, or assessments related to engineering activities
Technical Guidance & Collaboration
Work closely with engineers and cross‑functional teams to support project objectives
Communicate technical findings, observations, and recommendations clearly
Provide informal mentoring or technical guidance to Engineering Technician I and II employees
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced working knowledge of technical practices related to testing, assembly, and troubleshooting
Ability to independently execute complex technical tasks with limited supervision
Strong proficiency with test equipment, instrumentation, and measurement tools
Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills applied to non‑routine technical issues
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and procedures
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and technical teams
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Travel
Both Domestic and International Travel up to 10%
