DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Administrative Technician at Krohn Conservatory serves in a key administrative support role for the daily operations of one of Cincinnati’s most valued public attractions. This position supports park leadership, horticultural staff, volunteers, seasonal employees, and members of the public through a combination of advanced clerical, customer service, scheduling, coordination, and administrative responsibilities.

This classification serves as a bridge within the classified service between positions in the clerical series and positions in the Administrative Specialist series. The work requires advanced clerical skills, independent judgment, and the ability to interpret policies, procedures, and operational information. Responsibilities may include research, data collection and analysis, report preparation, follow-up, employee onboarding support, time and labor tracking, records management, scheduling, internal communication, and assistance with gift shop operations, seasonal shows, and public programming.

The Administrative Technician classification is distinguished from advanced-level clerical classifications by the broader scope, complexity, and operational impact of the work performed. Employees in this classification are expected to independently resolve routine administrative and operational issues, coordinate activities across multiple work groups, and make decisions that directly affect the efficiency of Krohn Conservatory’s operations and the quality of the visitor experience.
