Summary of Job Duties:

The Move Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently loading, transporting, and unloading furniture, equipment, and other assets as part of campus moves, surplus pickups, and event setups across UAMS properties. Disassembles and reassembles computers, furniture, and other equipment as needed. This role plays a key part in supporting UAMS’ Asset Reallocation Program, which helps reduce waste and spending by redistributing usable assets within the university or transferring them to the Arkansas State Surplus system.

Technicians also support event setups, perform daily cardboard and recycling pickups, and help ensure asset data is recorded accurately in internal tracking systems. The role requires physical strength, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to operate moving equipment and tools safely and responsibly.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED PLUS one (1) year experience in equipment, furniture disassembly or similar

  • Valid Driver’s License with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record

  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. or more repetitiously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to drive company vehicles (Large truck), forklift; operate drill press for destruction of computer hard drives; ability to safely use basic handheld tools; and perform basic computer skills


Additional Information:

Responsibilities

  • Safely load, transport, and unload furniture, equipment, computers, and other assets for campus moves, surplus pickups, and event setups across UAMS properties.

  • Disassemble and reassemble furniture, computers, and other equipment as needed.

  • Support the UAMS Asset Reallocation Program by collecting and redistributing usable assets or preparing items for transfer to the Arkansas State Surplus system.

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including arranging furniture and equipment.

  • Perform daily cardboard and recycling pickups throughout assigned areas.

  • Accurately record and update asset information in internal tracking systems.

  • Operate moving equipment, tools, and university vehicles safely and responsibly.

  • Follow established safety procedures while handling, transporting, and storing assets.

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to faculty, staff, and campus partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
