The Operations Support Superintendent is a field-based leader responsible for the safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of maintenance, automation, instrumentation and electrical (I&E), communications, and measurement services across our South Texas assets.

This role leads multidisciplinary support teams and works closely with Operations, treating field operating teams as internal customers. The successful candidate will foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture while maintaining a strong commitment to health, environmental protection, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide visible HES leadership and ensure work is planned and performed safely and responsibly.

  • Lead field teams supporting maintenance, automation, I&E, communications, and measurement.

  • Partner with Operations to establish priorities, resolve issues, and improve equipment reliability and field performance.

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to align resources, technical solutions, schedules, and performance expectations.

  • Manage contractors and other third parties, including selection, onboarding, work quality, cost control, HES performance, and compliance with company requirements.

  • Promote hazard identification, stop-work responsibility, incident prevention, operational discipline, and environmental stewardship.

  • Coordinate support for planned and reactive maintenance, facility projects, operational changes, and emergency response.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards and applicable health, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and the sharing of lessons learned.

  • Manage staffing, budgets, work quality, and service delivery.

  • Develop team capability through coaching, performance management, and technical and HES training.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of oilfield facilities, production systems, maintenance practices, automation, I&E, communications, and measurement. They will bring proven field leadership experience, a strong HES mindset, sound operational judgment, and demonstrated success managing vendors, contractors, and other third parties. The candidate must be able to build productive relationships across technical, operations, and external service teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Relevant technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and oil and gas experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of oil and gas operations experience, including at least five years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Demonstrated experience leading field-based technical or operational support teams.

  • Working knowledge of applicable HES requirements, regulatory standards, and safe work practices.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to operational issues.

  • Proficiency with standard business, maintenance-management, and operational technology systems.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles in accordance with company policy.

  • Ability to travel throughout the South Texas operating area and work outdoors in varying field and weather conditions.

  • Availability to provide after-hours support and participate in emergency response when required.
