As a Dealership Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Controller and Operations team to ensure vehicle sales are accurate, complete, and properly posted. You’ll also support factory receivables, warranty and floorplan schedules, commission statements, reconciliations, and the day-to-day accounting work that keeps a dealership running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Vehicle Deals – Post new, used, wholesale, dealer trade, and fleet vehicle deals accurately and on time
- Reconciliations – Maintain clean schedules and ensure financial information is accurate and up to date
- Factory Programs – Reconcile factory program funds to vehicle sales and ensure outstanding amounts are accounted for
- Vehicle Invoicing – Post vehicle invoices into CDK and ensure transactions are properly captured
- Commissions – Calculate commissions accurately and support timely payment
- Sales Accounting – Maintain sales-related schedules and support dealership reporting
- Month-End – Assist with reconciliations and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Year-End & Audit Support – Prepare working papers and supporting documentation for fiscal year-end and audit requirements
- Problem Solving – Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and work with the team to keep our accounting records clean and accurate
What We're Looking For
- Dealership Accounting Experience – Previous automotive dealership accounting experience is an asset, but we’re also open to accounting professionals ready to take the next step in their career
- Excel Skills – Comfortable building, maintaining, and reconciling spreadsheets
- Attention to Detail – You take pride in getting the numbers right
- Organization – Able to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines
- Efficiency – Process paperwork and transactions accurately and on time
- Professionalism – Positive, dependable, and comfortable working with multiple departments
- Team Mentality – You communicate well, collaborate with others, and jump in where needed
- Adaptability – Comfortable learning new processes and taking on new challenges as the business grows
