[What the role is]

The Enterprise Knowledge Department partners other MAS departments to manage MAS' knowledge assets, by formulating and implementing information and data governance policy.

We are seeking a Data Governance Officer to support the implementation of MAS' enterprise data catalogue and related data governance initiatives. The role will work closely with business, technology and policy stakeholders to improve data discoverability, strengthen data accountability, and promote the responsible use of data across MAS.

[What you will be working on]

  • Support the implementation of MAS’ enterprise data catalogue and related data governance initiatives. 

  • Develop and operationalise data governance processes, standards and controls.

  • Provide advisory on Whole-of-Government data governance requirements (e.g.  data classification, protection, access, sharing and lifecycle management).

  • Facilitate the adoption of data governance practices, including data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data quality and access governance.

  • Review and assess data-related risks, governance submissions, projects and initiatives, and recommend measures to address identified gaps.

  • Support the development of guidance materials, communications and training programmes to strengthen data governance awareness and compliance across MAS.

[What we are looking for]

  • Relevant qualifications in data management, information management, information systems, computer science, public policy or a related discipline.

  • Experience in data governance, data management, information governance or a related role.

  • Familiarity with data governance concepts such as data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data quality and data classification

  • Experience with enterprise data platforms or catalogue (e.g. Snowflake Horizon Catalogue or similar solutions) is preferred but not essential 

  • Familiarity with Whole-of-Government data policies and frameworks, including requirements relating to data classification, protection, sharing, access and lifecycle management.

  • Ability to engage stakeholders across business, policy and technology functions and translate complex requirements into practical solutions.

  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.

This is a 1-year contract. As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
