This is a senior placement leadership role that requires strategic thinking across both carrier and client relationships, a strong understanding of the market, and a collaborative, humble approach to leadership. It plays a central role in setting the tone and pace for a high-growth part of the global Bowring Marsh business and is expected to lead from the front on digital and AI adoption, new product delivery, and revenue growth. The role also requires the ability to lead change, solve complex problems, and work effectively with wider Bowring Marsh EC and Specialty placement leadership. This role sits on the UK Bowring Marsh Executive Committee

Principal Accountabilities

1. Placement Strategy

  • Act as a senior escalation point and troubleshooter for significant or complex placement deals.
  • Support complex placements and lead the delivery of analytics and data to drive placement strategy.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with influential market partners to improve market access and outcomes.

2. Client Solutions / Growth

  • Maintain a strong profile with key clients and network offices and ensure this visibility is cascaded through the team.
  • Promote a growth mindset that strengthens client engagement, market deal-making, and opportunity conversion.
  • Align travel plans and client engagement activity to client priorities and business impact.
  • Contribute to RFP activity and support the Marsh network on initiatives and resource allocation.
  • Support new business and retention strategies through strong market-facing execution.

3. Product Innovation & Digital

In partnership with the Placement Leader and other key stakeholders, own the development and enhancements of products, digital trading and data driven capabilities that create genuine competitive advantage, including:

  • Drive broader deployment and indexation of existing core products.
  • Lead product development and delivery — translating new ideas into commercially successful, scalable solutions taken to market at pace.
  • Leading AI adoption as a strategic priority for the team — identifying use cases, driving take-up, and embedding AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making

4. People Management & Culture

Lead a large and diverse team of 25+ colleagues with varying levels of experience and capability, including experienced placement brokers and colleagues supporting placement administration and output.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting clear direction, priorities, and performance expectations
  • Providing visible and effective day-to-day leadership

  • Building talent, succession, and leadership pipelines
  • Actively driving a high-performance, inclusive, and accountable team culture that sets the standard for the wider Bowring Marsh business
  • Supporting colleagues through change and helping the team adapt to new tools, processes, and market developments
  • Ensuring the team is structured and deployed effectively to meet business needs
  • Encouraging initiative, ownership, and continuous improvement across the team

5. Revenue Growth & Financial Acumen

  • Own and drive revenue growth for the North America Property portfolio, have accountability for new business, retention, and profitable growth target.
  • Support timely and accurate reporting on financial performance.
  • Work with stakeholders to maintain transparency and discipline in financial management.

6. Workflow & Governance

  • Improve KPIs relating to process quality, timeliness, and administration of policies and slips.
  • Strengthen workflow discipline across the placement function.
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks, duplication, and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and control requirements.
  • Help de-risk the firm through strong governance, oversight, and escalation.
  • Promote accountability for process quality and operational excellence.

  • Commercial judgment and complex problem-solving capability, with strong AI and digital acumen and comfort driving technology-enabled change
  • Experience improving workflow, governance, and operational discipline
  • Confidence operating in a senior stakeholder environment
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, including taking new products from development through to successful market launch

Leadership Expectations
