About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented Associate Tax Strategist to join our team. The Tax Strategist will be responsible for preparing and reviewing personal and business income tax returns, supporting audit activities, and ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. This role involves preparing, submitting, and managing tax statements and returns for clients and businesses while providing strategic tax guidance and recommendations.
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of tax regulations, laws, and compliance requirements, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition to tax-related responsibilities, this position will mentor and guide team members through knowledge sharing, skill development, and professional growth. The Associate Tax Strategist will also support continuous improvement initiatives and accurately process a variety of financial information and documentation while ensuring adherence to reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
Day to day, you’ll…
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns with precision, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- tax planning efforts to optimize tax liabilities and support long-term financial goals.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, to identify tax implications and opportunities for savings.
- Manage complex accounting processes such as double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and regulatory reporting.
- Utilize various accounting software tools such as QuickBooks, Xero, ACS, UltraTax, and other financial software to streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Assist in budgeting, financial analysis, and asset management activities to optimize resource allocation across departments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all tax-related transactions, account reconciliations, and audit trails for transparency and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of tax experience
- Experience completing all types/schedules for individual returns
- Tax planning and audit support
- Ability to effectively communicate in person and virtually
- Comfort working with virtual tools – video conferencing and chat
- Experience working in a fast-paced, supportive environment
- Successful completion of our Tax Knowledge Assessment
- Must complete continuing education requirements and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
- Experience completing business tax returns
- Experience conducting virtual tax interviews
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
