Position Summary 

  

FSM Group, LLC, an aviation fuel management company with operations across North America, has an immediate opening for a GSE Supervisor at our Boston airport location.


The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily ground support equipment maintenance operations, including technician activities, equipment availability, and work assignments. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance and repair of ground support equipment while maintaining compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable safety and regulatory standards. 


Essential Responsibilities 

  • Lead and direct employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance operations 
  • Promote compliance with company safety standards, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements 
  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ground support equipment, including fueling equipment, transport vehicles, and related systems 
  • Perform equipment diagnostics and interpret wiring schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation 
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) 
  • Conduct equipment, inventory, and work-order audits to promote operational efficiency, accuracy, and accountability 
  • Coordinate maintenance projects, monitor progress, and ensure completion within established timelines and operational objectives 
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and operational documentation 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business and operational requirements

Requirements

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record?in accordance with company standards
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to maintain reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and applicable background checks, including federal fingerprinting, in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to access all areas of the airport necessary to perform job duties, including secured areas, in compliance with airport and federal regulations 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance; employment is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable background checks and clearance requirements as determined by the contracting agency  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • One (1) – two (2) years of experience or technical training in the repair and maintenance of aviation equipment or ground support equipment (GSE) 
  • Experience maintaining fuel equipment, transport vehicles, catering trucks, or related mechanical systems 
  • Knowledge of aviation fuel safety practices and operational compliance standards 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a safety-focused or highly regulated environment
  • Proven ability to lead, guide, and develop team members in a safety-focused operational environment
  • Ability to apply organizational policies, procedures, and standards consistently while fostering a professional, respectful, and productive workplace
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English as required to perform job duties and help safe operations in the airport environment, including during emergencies or situations requiring a shared language for safety 
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions 
  • Proficiency with computer systems and common workplace software applications, including Microsoft Office applications, data entry and operational reporting systems  

Physical and Environmental Requirements 


This position requires sustained physical effort and consistent exposure to outdoor and potentially 

hazardous work environments. The physical demands described below are representative of those that 

must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without 

reasonable accommodation. 


Mobility and Access 

  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50+ steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more, including high, precarious places 
  • Ability to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights 
  • Ability to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes, including automated lifts up to 26 feet 

Lifting and Carrying 

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead 
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level 
  • Ability to shovel materials such as snow, sand, dirt, gravel, or rocks as needed 

Standing and Movement 

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and balance for extended periods of time 
  • Perform repetitive physical movements, including bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions 
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work, such as connecting fueling hoses 

Manual Dexterity 

  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools, equipment, and controls 

Sensory Requirements 

  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions, environmental sounds, and audible alarms 
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities 
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) 
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) 
  • Color vision (identify and distinguish between colors) 
  • Peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point) 
  • Depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships) 
  • Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances) 

Environmental and Working Conditions  

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind 
  •  Tolerate frequent exposure to 
  • Moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)  
  • Fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous substances, materials, or waste  
  • Work near or around 
  • Moving mechanical parts 
  • High-voltage equipment  
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure
