Overview
A Software Lead Engineer Empower provides strong technical expertise and collaborates across teams to promote designs, ideas, and technologies. They understand systems well, especially in software and instrument communication environments, and help drive project execution to achieve roadmap goals.
Responsibilities
Read, write, test, and build code
Design, develop, test, maintain, and improve code. Handle complex software systems, architecture, and critical legacy code. Apply broad experience across different problem areas and develop software that interacts with hardware.
Work in alignment with Software Requirement Specifications (SRS).
Work in alignment with Software Requirement Specifications (SRS). Collaborate with stakeholders to understand product and customer needs. Clearly understand requirements for each iteration and communicate the purpose to the team when needed. Take ownership in resolving gaps or unclear requirements.
Know the product, customer, and domain
Understand the end users and their goals. Familiarity with LC & MS processes and Waters products (hardware and software) is a plus. Have a basic understanding of the market and related business needs, Have a basic understanding of the market these products exist in and the business considerations for Waters.
Aligning your work with other people
Promote teamwork and transparency during development. Work effectively with user stories and backlog refinement. Coordinate with other teams to prevent duplication and delays. Focus on successful releases while considering broader roadmap goals and cross-team priorities.
Be proactive and take the initiative with development work
Handle large, complex tasks with uncertainty and take a proactive approach to clarify requirements and drive effective technical design by collaborating with the right stakeholders and to plan an effective technical design.

Encourage team participation in continuous improvement. Contribute ideas to the continuous improvement of other teams. Expected to help to make team-level changes happen and drive continuous improvement in areas of expertise or responsibility.

Qualifications
Qualifications / Education required:
Experience required: Experience around 5+years till less than 10 years in Industry
1. Substantial proven development experience in C++, C# .net. Prior experience working with device drivers and hardware interfacing on Windows will be added advantage.
2. Experience in firmware development would be a nice to have.
3. Experience of AI in Code Development (GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI) is good to have.
4. Experience of Python, Docker and cloud architecture will be added advantage.
5. Strong System design understanding – in projects that have software and hardware components.
6. Considerable technical experience, allowing to make progress on own and self-motivated.
7. Excellent communication skills (in English), good inter team and department collaboration when required.
