-Verify compliance with client-specific safety requirements and site-specific safety plans.
-Promote accountability among both office and field personnel for maintaining safe work environments.
Training & Safety Culture:
-Lead new employee safety orientations and ongoing refresher training.
-Mentor supervisors and field leaders in proactive safety leadership and hazard recognition.
-Foster a safety-first culture where every employee takes ownership of workplace safety.
-Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement
-Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses.
-Complete root cause analyses and ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
-Track leading and lagging safety indicators including inspections, observations, training completion, incidents, and corrective actions.
-Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
10+ years of Health & Safety experience within the mechanical / construction industry.
-Previous experience supporting piping, HVAC, plumbing, or sheet metal construction projects.
-Experience leading or supporting COR® Certification programs is highly preferred.
-Thorough knowledge of Ontario OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations, and construction safety legislation.
-Strong understanding of hazards associated with mechanical construction, including lifting operations, welding, confined spaces, hot work, mechanical rooms, and rooftop work.
-Experience conducting site inspections, audits, investigations, and safety training.
-Proven ability to build relationships and influence Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and field crews.
-Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
-Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline is preferred.
-CRSP, CRST, NCSO, or similar professional designation is considered a strong asset.
What Success Looks Like:
-A consistent and proactive safety culture across all piping and sheet metal projects.
-Successful achievement and maintenance of COR® Certification.
-Increased engagement and accountability from Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and field personnel.
-High-quality safety documentation, inspections, and training records.
-Reduced incidents through proactive hazard identification and continuous improvement.
-A trusted safety leader who is viewed as a resource and partner by both operations and field teams.
