Description
Our client, a well-known pharmaceutical company are looking for an SHE Site Lead to join their Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring full compliance with Maltese health, safety and environmental legislation, including OHSA regulations, ERA requirements, and local ATEX directives.
- Acting as the Competent Person under Maltese occupational health and safety law (based on L.N. 36 of 2003 and L.N. 44 of 2002).
- Leading the site’s SHE risk assessment processes, including those related to hazardous substances (REACH/CLP), ATEX zoning, and other process safety risks.
- Driving the SHE strategy and overseeing the implementation of programs, policies, training initiatives, and audits.
- Fostering a proactive safety culture by empowering employees at all levels to take ownership of SHE standards, encouraging open and transparent communication, promoting personal accountability, and actively involving teams in identifying risks as well as proposing improvements and driving safe, sustainable work practices.
- Leading SHE-related projects in areas such as sustainability, waste management, energy efficiency and emergency response planning.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- An MQF Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent recognized by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA Malta) as a competent person under Maltese law.
- Proven previous experience in a similar SHE leading role within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industries, ideally in ATEX regulated environments.
- Certified auditor or demonstrated experience in auditing in ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, communicate effectively across all levels, and influence behaviour to foster a company-wise safety culture and accountability.
