The Opportunity

Lesley University's department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CBUSN 1150 - The Ethical Leader (First Year Seminar); Fall Semester 2026; Tuesdays/Fridays from 9:35 am - 10:50 am; In-person, On-Campus.

Course Description:
This course examines the ethical and moral issues that arise in contemporary organizational contexts and their impact on individuals, groups, communities, and society at large. Students will explore ethical theories that provide frameworks for evaluating motives, intentions, actions, and consequences, including concepts such as duties, rights, and justice. This course will also examine morality as the application of ethical principles within social and cultural contexts, emphasizing values such as compassion, integrity, and responsibility. By integrating both theoretical and applied perspectives, students will develop the skills necessary to analyze and address complex ethical challenges in organizational settings. Particular emphasis is placed on leadership decision-making and the importance of exercising sound ethical judgment in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

Qualities and Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • Master's degree in Business, Ethics, Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, or a closely related field (required); PhD or terminal degree (preferred)

  • Experience teaching ethics, leadership, management, philosophy, or organizational studies at the college level

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ethical theory, moral reasoning, and leadership decision-making

  • Commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and equitable teaching practices

  • Ability to facilitate respectful dialogue on complex ethical and social issues

  • Experience using learning management systems and instructional technology to support teaching and learning

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
