Description
The Student Ambassador is a part-time, non-benefitted, and temporary student position that is open to eligible students. Eligible students must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours and be in good academic standing. Preference will be given to candidates who have at least one year remaining in their degree program at LCCC. Federal Work Study eligible students are encouraged to apply.
Performance and academic standing will be evaluated at the end of every semester, and eligible Ambassadors may be renewed with supervisor approval. Though a maximum of 4 semesters as a Student Ambassador will be the norm, in some circumstances the maximum may be increased dependent upon the student’s continued enrollment and job performance.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.
Compensation: $15.03/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:– this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. Position may include one or more of the following duties, or others as assigned:
- Delivers engaging, informative, and student-centered campus tours that effectively communicate the LCCC experience, contributing to prospective student engagement, recruitment, and positive first impressions.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for Enrollment Services and Student Services, providing accurate, timely, and professional assistance to students, prospective students, families, employees, and community members through in-person interactions and multi-line telephone systems.
- Provides exceptional customer service in all interactions by proactively greeting and assisting visitors, actively listening to needs, and applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to connect individuals with appropriate resources and services.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of LCCC programs, services, and procedures to ensure accurate information sharing, effective referrals, and support for student decision-making and navigation of college processes.
- Utilizes and adapts to institutional technology systems with high proficiency, including the student portal and other Enrollment Services tools, to support student access, troubleshoot issues, and improve service delivery.
- Maintains a welcoming, organized, and professional environment in the work area and shared campus spaces, ensuring spaces reflect the quality of LCCC’s services and foster a positive visitor experience.
- Represents LCCC positively in outreach, recruitment, marketing, and engagement efforts, effectively communicating the value of the college and building connections with prospective students and their families.
- Provides administrative and operational support across Enrollment Services and other campus offices as needed, contributing to efficient workflows, scheduling, communications, and overall departmental effectiveness.
- Models professionalism, reliability, and accountability by consistently demonstrating punctuality, flexibility, and adherence to departmental expectations and ability to maintain a regular schedule (determined on a semester-by-semester basis).
- Demonstrates professional presentation and conduct, including adherence to required attire standards, to reinforce credibility and the institution’s commitment to excellence.
- There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
- While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
- There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
- An employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions.
- An employee must be able to walk around campus while talking and giving tours.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Admission at LCCC and continued enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (Exceptions may be given for summer term with supervisor approval).
- Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (GPA will be checked each semester).
- Minimum of [6] months of experience in customer service, public-facing roles, or roles requiring frequent interpersonal interaction, demonstrating the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience with public speaking/presenting
- Experience in a professional office setting including answering/providing service via telephone
