This role is geared toward a proven technical leader who can own complex utility-scale generation, BESS, substation, data center, and large-load studies; provide trusted guidance to clients and internal teams; and help shape best practices around transient and dynamic system performance.

Responsibilities

    • Lead advanced EMT simulations in PSCAD for renewable generation, BESS, hybrid systems, and large-load interconnection projects
    • Direct and review dynamic (RMS) studies using PSSE or equivalent tools, including model validation, scenario development, and results interpretation
    • Provide technical leadership on complex study areas, including:
      •  Temporary Overvoltages (TOV)
      • Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV)
      • Switching transients and fault response
      • Load rejection and load ramp events
    • Interpret, apply, and advise on applicable IEEE, NERC, utility, and regional interconnection requirements
    • Develop and oversee high-quality technical reports, study methodologies, assumptions, conclusions, and recommendations that can stand up to utility, client, and regulatory review
    • Serve as a senior technical resource across multidisciplinary project teams, mentoring engineers and helping elevate the overall power systems study practice

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience with a strong focus on power system studies, advanced simulations, or grid integration
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License preferred; ability to serve as a senior technical reviewer and trusted advisor to clients and project teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's Degree Preferred)
  • Expert-level understanding of:
    • Transient and dynamic system behavior

    • PSSE
  • Ability to lead through influence, collaborate across disciplines, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and help build scalable technical processes
  • Experience with additional tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower

Preferred senior-level experience:

  • Demonstrated experience leading studies for hybrid systems involving BESS, renewable generation, and large load integration
  • Strong exposure to data center, industrial load, or other high-demand load modeling and interconnection challenges
  • Experience with additional tools such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower

Working knowledge and practical application of:

      • IEEE 2800
      • IEEE 1547
      • Utility-specific interconnection requirements (e.g., ERCOT, WECC, BPA)

Salary Range:
