About this position:
Lake Michigan Credit Union is looking for a Treasury Management Officer (TMO) to drive growth and expand treasury management relationships throughout Southeast Michigan. This highly visible, member-facing sales role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, strengthening relationships with existing business members, and delivering treasury management solutions that help organizations operate more efficiently and securely.
The Treasury Management Officer serves as a trusted advisor to business members by identifying their cash management needs, recommending customized solutions, and supporting the successful implementation of treasury management products and services. Working closely with Commercial Lending, Business Banking, Treasury Management Operations, and other internal partners, this role plays a critical part in growing deposits, increasing non-interest income, expanding market share, and delivering an exceptional member experience.
The ideal candidate brings prior treasury management experience and a strong understanding of commercial payment systems, cash management solutions, and treasury-related risk considerations.
What You'll Do:
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Drive new treasury management sales opportunities through outreach to existing and prospective business members.
- Develop a deep understanding of member businesses, operating processes, and financial needs to recommend appropriate treasury management solutions.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of business relationships by increasing deposits, generating non-interest income, and expanding service utilization.
- Build and maintain strong member relationships through regular meetings, ongoing communication, and proactive service.
- Prepare and present treasury management proposals, cost-benefit analyses, relationship reviews, and solution recommendations.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for assigned Southeast Michigan markets.
- Partner with Commercial Lending, Business Banking, Branch teams, and other key stakeholders to enhance referral opportunities and member engagement.
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional LMCU products and services that support member goals.
- Represent LMCU at networking events, industry functions, community activities, and business development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline updates, relationship management efforts, and member interactions.
Treasury Solutions & Risk Management
- Evaluate business member treasury management needs and recommend solutions including ACH, wire services, remote deposit capture, online treasury services, fraud prevention tools, and related products.
- Assess complex payment processes, treasury systems, operational workflows, and risk considerations to deliver tailored solutions.
- Review large payment activity, ACH and wire exposure, exception requests, and non-standard member requirements to balance member experience with organizational risk.
- Establish appropriate ACH, wire transfer, and remote deposit limits in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure completion of required due diligence documentation and risk assessments for treasury management relationships.
- Collaborate with Treasury Management Operations and other departments to address member needs, implementation challenges, and service opportunities.
- Support ongoing risk management efforts and assist with annual member reviews and required communications.
Implementation, Training & Member Support
- Oversee the onboarding and implementation of treasury management services for new and existing members.
- Coordinate the preparation, collection, and review of account documentation, agreements, and service setup requirements.
- Work with Treasury Management Sales Associates to establish accounts, configure services, test files, assign user access, and coordinate pricing.
- Provide in-person and virtual member training on treasury management solutions and digital platforms.
- Respond to implementation concerns, troubleshoot member issues, and escalate matters when necessary.
- Conduct post-implementation follow-up to ensure member satisfaction and successful adoption of treasury management services.
- Adapt training and communication methods to meet the needs of various audiences and experience levels.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Participate in special projects, departmental initiatives, conferences, and member events as requested.
- Support community involvement efforts and LMCU volunteer activities.
- Build strong internal partnerships that support member success and organizational growth.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Culture

What You'll Bring
Experience & Education:
- 3 to 5 years of treasury management, cash management or commercial banking experience with direct treasury management sales and relationship management responsibilities required.
- Experience working with treasury management products and services such as ACH, wire transfers, remote deposit capture, cash management, fraud prevention tools, and online treasury platforms required.
- Business banking or commercial banking experience with significant exposure to treasury management solutions may be considered.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.
- Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation preferred but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with CRM platforms and digital communication tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Understanding of treasury management risk principles, business banking operations, and payment systems.
- Ability to analyze business needs and recommend effective financial solutions.
