The Children, Youth, and Family Mobile Crisis Team is a mobile crisis team that provided crisis services twenty-four seven, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. This is a unique and specialized team that aids children and youth in resolving crisis and providing for the engagement and coordination of community services specializing in engagement and treatment of children and youth.  The team will provide rapid response , assessment services, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, linkage to requested/necessary resources and appropriate community -based mental health and SUD treatment.

​The Crisis Clinician provides telephone and mobile outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services for youth, adults and families in a behavioral health crisis. The Crisis Clinician conducts telephone and face to face assessments with or on behalf of individuals whose health or safety is in danger because of a mental health or substance use condition, collaborates with individuals, family, and community partners to develop and implement "viable less restrictive alternatives to hospitalization" in situations where appropriate or assist with facilitation of inpatient treatment. May be dispatched to crisis interventions in the community with other crisis response services staff including Designated Crisis Responders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

  • Provide initial and follow-up phone triage, assessment, and de-escalation services for children, youth and families who are in an emotional or behavioral health crisis, including those referred for Involuntary Treatment Act (ITA) services.

  • Provide referral services to children, youth and family requesting assistance or 3rd party referral sources to provide community stabilization and diversion services to the identified individual in crisis, including linkage to a Designated Crisis Responder (DCR).

  • Complete risk assessments to determine if caller is at risk for suicide and/or homicide, and who may need an immediate response, which may include referrals to Law Enforcement, DCR, and/or Active Rescue to maintain his/her safety or the safety of others.

  • Within a year staff will be proficient in best practice for children, youth, and families.

  • Work in collaboration with the Lead Manager to ensure that case response is met for ITA/CIT WAC and contractional time frames.  Also ensure that any high-risk cases are brought to the Lead Manager in a timely manner for immediate and appropriate response.

  • Be the liaison between the RCL and DCR in regard to crisis referrals to the child, youth and families crisis mobile outreach team.

  • In collaboration with clients and their support network, develop stabilization and safety plans.   

  • Complete comprehensive documentation which supports the safety plan as indicated.

  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of community resources and ability to access resources to support and address client needs.

  • Follow up on referrals made regarding at risk/high risk children, youth, and families to ensure stabilization and/or services obtained. 

  • FBH will attempt to hire Crisis Clinician for a fix shift however there maybe time that a clinician may be asked to work a different shift due to coverage concerns.

  • Maintain working relationships with the courts, attorneys, providers, police and sheriff's deputies, jail staff, clinical and administrative persons at inpatient psychiatric facilities throughout the state, staff of other agencies, advocates and consumer groups and citizens.

  • Participate in Peer Review, supervision, in-center educational and administrative meetings as directed.

  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner, in accordance with agency policies and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health related field.

  • Must apply for Agency Affiliation within 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED:

  • Two years of experience serving children, youth and families with behavioral health needs.

  • Experience with crisis intervention, diversion, stabilization services and risk assessments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active drivers’ license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.

  • Strong engagement and customer service skills, empathy, ability to remain calm, professional, and clear headed during escalated situations.

  • Knowledge and skills in working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

  • Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of all WAC and RCW requirements for Crisis and Involuntary Treatment Services.

  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level, and socio-economic status.

  • Demonstrate evidence of critical thinking, decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Ability to manage 10 to 20 active cases.

  • This position provided client services in community settings on a daily basis.  Community settings include but are not limited to residences, group/congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, the streets or anywhere in the community at large.

  • Some environments may not be ideal in terms of cleanliness or being habitable.

  • Daily travel between locations is required.

  • The ability to drive a vehicle, traverse distances up to several city blocks and on various terrains, navigate stairs, get in and out of vehicles frequently is required.

  • Daily use of a computer is required.

  • May be required to lift 10 - 20 pounds. 

PAY RANGE (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $25.89- $31.53

  • All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health, thus the starting base pay for this position is $25.89.

  • There is added shift differential of 17.46% for the Saturday & Sunday 9PM-7:30AM shift.

  • Per Required Need positions are not benefited and not eligible for sign-on bonus.

  • If hired, will be required to attend 2 day in person orientation and 1/2 day in person training for first week.
