M05 - Solution Architect

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern, cloud-native digital solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for defining scalable solution architectures, providing technical leadership to development teams, and ensuring best practices across software engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and AI-assisted development.

The ideal candidate has a strong full-stack engineering background, hands-on AWS experience, and a deep understanding of modern software architecture. You will also champion emerging engineering practices, including agentic engineering, spec-driven development, and AI-powered software delivery, while working closely with product owners, designers, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and production-ready applications.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solution architectures for cloud-native applications, ensuring scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design to deployment and production support.
• Architect and develop modern full-stack applications using Next.js, TypeScript, and component-based architectures.
• Define engineering standards, architectural principles, and best practices across software development and cloud adoption.
• Lead the adoption of agentic engineering practices, including AI coding agents, spec-driven development, prompt engineering, and engineering workflow optimisation.
• Review technical designs, source code, and AI-generated outputs to ensure quality, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.
• Design and implement scalable cloud solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFront, API Gateway, and related services.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to establish CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK), containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including product managers, UX designers, business analysts, and engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams and promote modern engineering practices and continuous improvement.
• Ensure delivered solutions are production-ready, resilient, secure, and aligned with organisational architecture standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles.
• Strong experience in full-stack development using Next.js, TypeScript, and modern web application frameworks.
• Proven experience designing and delivering production-grade enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including application deployment, infrastructure design, and cloud architecture.
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with agentic engineering, including AI-assisted software development, coding agents, spec-driven development, and agent orchestration.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/CDK, monitoring, and observability tools.
• Strong knowledge of secure software development, system performance, scalability, and cloud security best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence across teams.
• Preferred Qualifications
• AWS certifications (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, AWS Developer, or AWS DevOps Engineer).
• Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud-native solutions.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies, developer productivity tools, and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and leading technical delivery across cross-functional teams.
